I tend to check my email first, then viit our boards and then play a game of internet backgammon.

What are the first things the rest of you do when you turn your pc on?

Open up the board and start chatting, then check email when posting is slow.

I usually take it out of the box, turn it on, and then use it. This only happens once, it doesnt get turned off after this.

you mean you guys actually turn your computers off? mine stays on.. ill reboot it once every week or two, just because.

my computer is only off when the power is out :)

laptop, i dont migrate to my desktop until after breakfast. that one is never off.

connect to the internet

my computer is on 24/7 - i only turn the monitor off manually when not using it

so turn monitor on... open outlook, deal w/ anyone that's im'd me when i was away... reply to email and then open ie and check my stats for adsense and a few other affiliate programs, then off to some forums and then end w/ the forum i run - and check ebay auctions in between if im watching / bidding on something

Check email first. Then the multi-tasking part kicks in...reading CNN news, reviewing business portfolios, reading GFY.

I usually clean the fingerprints off my screen, while I read my e-mail.

wonder wtf it's off and pray i saved whatever i left open at about 6am that morning before i went to bed

Mine is rarely off, so its hard to say :winkwink:

Same here. It's just a part of the room, like the phone. Messenger is a family "intercom". I post or browse during commercials. Sometimes if I wake up in the middle of the night I'll click to see what's going on at the board. The computer is plugged into my surround system so I'm apt to listen to streams any time of the day/night. I'm often online for a half-hour or more in the morning before I ever get out of bed. I'm just a couple blocks from a main substation so my DSL usually rocks 24/7, I love it:thumbsup

I reboot if a program is giving me problems or I'm running cache sweeper. I average about 2 1/2 days.

Either we just had this thread a couple days ago or I have some weird kind of ESP.

the first thing i do when i turn my pc on is ask myself who the fuck was on my ccomputer and why the fuck is my computer turned off.

it depends on the day, but usually: winamp, stats, ICQ, email, message boards

I check my emails first, then icq.

My PC is always on.. I work in my fuckin sleep...
