canadians: whats your honest opinion of living in canada
just curious as to what the consensus is with people that live there currently.
i'm loosely considering moving up there - i understand taxation and unemployment are fairly high in comparison to the states, and that major health issues aren't rectified in exactly a timely manner. i may be way off base though. let me know. |
too cold
everything else is great especially the nightlife |
Taxes aren't bad where I am. Don't know about anywhere else, don't really care either.
The cost of living here in Winnipeg is quite low. Overall my concensus is: I like it. |
Our goverment is as bad any other. They lie and steal from us. We've had the same Liberal Goverment for ages. We can't vote them out aslong as Ontario and Quebec keep electing them.
Our taxes are insane. Our healthcare, billed as free, is not really free. If you make more than a paltry sum of money, you have to pay monthly for it. It's not very much, but our system isn't very good either. Huge waiting lists, shortages of Doctors, Nurses and Hopsital Beds. It's cold up here. Summers are nice though. |
visited many places, and always want to come back home. Im in toronto and the best place to be in the world.

The Liberals won 135 seats. 75 from Ontario. 21 From Quebec. Who doesn't know what's going on in Canada? |
honnestly? I consider myself lucky.
Crime rate is lower. Murders go punished. gangbangers get gang raped in jail and we have decent roads. The RCMP actually tries to break up organized crime and we have good beer. Our waters are clear (so far) and education is easier to get. Now for the downsides that I see, TAX TAX TAX TAX.. then nothing when we desperately need it. Such as women on maternaty leave. they have to wait a month for any money from employment insurance. On the eastern and western seaboard there is nothing sacred when it comes to car preservation. It all fucking rots fast due to way too much godamn salt haha. The government never lsiten to the people until we block highways or burn down fishing villages. The indians are getting a free ride and get away with everything. The goods clearly outweigh the bad though. It's generaly a safer and cleaner place to live. especially in less populated areas. |

Where are the other 39 seats ( more than Quebec )... Maritimes???? Tories can't crack Liberal fortress in Atlantic Canada Quebec voted " Bloc Quebecois" , the only province were they exist ... ( lol ) ... |

Let's go back four years to 2000. Ontario 100 Liberal Seats. Quebec 36 Liberal Seats. Cumatively enough to form a minority goverment. The rest of the country together only elected 36 Liberal Seats. Let's go back to the elections of 1997 Ontario 101 Liberal Seats. Querbec 26 seats. The rest of Canada 37 Liberal seats. Notice a pattern? Ontario the largest supporter, followed by Quebec. Still think Quebec has nothing to do with it? |

I've travelled all over the world. I've been to every Canadian province too. Canada is a good place to live, but it's not perfect. We have our share of problems here too. |

So many dipshits, so little time. Winnipeg sucks because you have no friends here. The problem is you, not Winnipeg. Yes, we have always had and always will have all those brands of cereals. God bless the higher primate. |
In Toronto myself and I like it. Although I havn't lived anywhere else just yet. The winters do get a little cold, but besides that it's all good. The positives easily outweigh the negatives.

Depends which province you want to live in, some places are too cold, some places theres a lot of rain and not that cold... Alberta only has 1 tax compared to 2 in other provinces...

Best comment I've read in a while. I've lived in Winnipeg for a couple years, while it's not quite as fun as my old home of Vancouver I can assure you that we have every brand of cereal any other city has. I don't know where you get cereal down south but the next time you're here, allow me to recommend trying a grocery store. Or WalMart. Or London drugs. Or some gas stations for fucks' sake. Where did you look anyway? |

I just told you I have family up there why the fuck would I lie genius :winkwink: Funny how you start getting offended and say I don't have any friends in Winnipeg, piece of shit Canadian :glugglug :glugglug |

August 2004
Employment was little changed for the second consecutive month. Job gains over the first eight months of 2004 totalled 113,000 (+0.7%), with almost all of the growth this year occurring in April and May. In August, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 7.2%. While there was little change in the number of hours worked in August, hours worked has grown by 2.5% over the first eight months of 2004. Taxes are indeed higher. |
i love it.

I'm living in Central BC in a small town...
BC taxes are fairly high, but we have all kinds of cereal :) except.. the corn pops are a different recipe, they're better.... and I can't find a store that carries cocoa pebbles. :1orglaugh Cost of living is not bad at all, I think. |
Ohhhhh drama! :1orglaugh
Hey, isn't anyone going to sing Alberta's praises? |
