you don't let teenagers drive at top speeds around other traffic. the duty of the cops is to protect the other drivers, and when they have a chance, they TAKE IT, even if the morons operating the car might die, it's THEIR FAULT.

Pursuit Intervention Technique

In actually, after having done several myself; at that speed it was kinda iffy. I would have placed another unit up ahead to try and slow the veh. in some way before attempting the PIT. That has worked well in the past.

In the south the cops don't fuck around like they do on the west coast. I used to live in Orlando, FL and cops would often just execute people who did not stop their cars. One time it happened while a news chopper was filming it live. A car was going slow but would not stop and after a half hour car chase through the city the cops just surounded the car and opened fire.

These dumb fucking kids killed themselves. That cop should get an award.

stop the persuit, the suspect slows down, 3 inter sections down the track keep following them in a civilian car, once they stop: arrest them. that easy, no need to kill two kids.

I read the lawyers are all over this. The local government is already backing away. Using a vehicle in this manner might be policy but it can easily be seen as excessive force. Why not wait till the vehicle ran out of gas? It was along chase as it was... it would have only been a little longer.
