Starting Next Week, All Airline Passengers Must >

Starting next week, all airline passengers must take off their jackets before passing through metal detectors and will be subjected to pat-down searches and checks for explosives.

:BangBang:

Screaming 09-16-2004 08:29 PM

i can honestly say that doesnt surprise me at all

gornyhuy 09-16-2004 08:30 PM

Whats wrong with that? Security measures already in place seem a lot more extreme. I'm a clean cut white dude and I get my shoes scanned and get patted down pretty often, plus they do explosive swabs on my laptop every time. :2 cents:

Juicy I bet you get checked a lot.

mary34d 09-16-2004 08:32 PM

?????

wtf!!! they always make me take off my jacket....even if the metal detector doesn't go off.....

I think i've been getting owned.

shermo 09-16-2004 08:32 PM

That happened to me last year when I arrived in FL. I had a suit on and I had to take everything off..Shoes and all because the detector kept going off. I found out that it was a gum wrapper setting it off.

Oh well..Whatever makes us safer. :(

reynold 09-16-2004 08:32 PM

not a surprise but thanks for the information anyway...

David! 09-16-2004 08:33 PM

That ain't the worst, they found out the 2 women who blew up those Russian planes had explosives in their vaginas :(

Varius 09-16-2004 08:33 PM

Don't they already do that? I"ve had them ask me to remove my shoes before.....a jacket is much easier.

BrainDead 09-16-2004 08:34 PM

they should have done that before! it's for the passengers to be more secured. it's for our own benefits!

Juicy D. Links 09-16-2004 08:34 PM

for FLA while we were stuck at Laguardia I went out like 12 times to smoke so I had to go through 12x , no issues.

Juicy D. Links 09-16-2004 08:36 PM

they should make everyone walk through naked :Graucho

Steve 09-16-2004 08:36 PM

I had to take off my shoes, and remove my belt, when I flew this week.

Fuck it, at least they didn't make me turn my head and cough.

OzMan 09-16-2004 08:36 PM

no problemo

I take off my jacket, belt, shoes already as I like to get thru' first time, not like those inconsiderate fucks who beep and then do "oh yeah" and start to pull out 50 bucks in quarters from 12 different pockets...

I also like the old "dogs" and new (fibre disc things) combination for explosives detection.

Oh and Pat down should be by a member of the OPPOSITE sex.

Was this a little :offtopic ?.... :glugglug

WiredGuy 09-16-2004 08:38 PM

Whats wrong with that, they make people take off their shoes and belts so removing a jacket seems reasonable.

WG

Sly 09-16-2004 08:39 PM

I get my shoes taken off every time. This is one of those situations where the commission is damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

They don't require this and someone gets through with a bomb in their jacket, the first thing that will happen is everybody bitching because they didn't check the jackets good enough. They do require this and we have everybody bitching that it's a pain, annoying, a hassle, etc.

People just need to quit their bitching and realize that life isn't perfect. Sometimes it sucks and is a hassle. If they want to check my jacket for bombs, I have no problem with it. I can then feel comfortable knowing that Abdul will be getting his jacket checked as well.

same here. and my shoes, and they check my suitcase too. :helpme

theking 09-16-2004 08:53 PM

Well...I quit flying prior to all of the current "security" checks (because of my back) but even if I hadn't there is no way in hell that I would submit myself to...what I consider to be a humiliating experience.

I will not submit myself to questioning...or search of any kind...unless I have been placed under arrest...and even then I will be complaining.

Vanilla DeVille 09-16-2004 08:54 PM

I am not surprised at all.... Hell, I got frisked coming back home from the Miami Internext! Almost missed my flight because of it!

me too. the funniest thing was the little security asian guy's face grabbed my silver bullet vibrator and turned it on.

They could strip you naked and put airmarshalls on every second row, but the plain simple fact is, when you get on the airplane there are literally thousands of metal objects that could be used as a weapon already on the plane... In business class they still give you metal knives or metal tea stir poker things, that are very lethal, your like 10 feet from the cockpit that is frequented by the stewards. Once you have a hostage or are in the cockpit , its over... You could down any 767 with a shoelace i bet.. Just play the odds and have 10 people hijack 767's with a shoelace and i can almost guarantee one would succeed.

With a small diamond stud chisel you could bust through an airplane window and de-pressurize the plane.

Until they use the obvious solution that has already been explained many times to no avail..

THE COCKPIT SHOULD NOT BE ACCESIBLE FROM THE CABIN.

That solves most of the problems right there. ( like 9/11 would never have happened )

They already have an access below the cockpit, they just need to bar the doors, and add an access from below. Very easy to modify almost every plane.

I think to solve problems people need to think like criminals.

Show me a good lock and i will stick a giant crack rock on the other side and watch how quick a crackhead gets it..

Every single one of who who finds this acceptable deserves to have every right you have taken away.

The fact that you are boarding an airplane does NOT make you a suspect in a crime that hasn't happened yet. There is no probable cause, and the Constitution and Bill of Rights describe unreasonable search and seizure.

I told you that I quit flying prior to the BS...but even if I hadn't I would not fly now...because of the bullshit. Now just how is that funny?

abyss_al 09-16-2004 09:02 PM

wow....... sad.

Finally someone that thinks like I do.

:thumbsup

Some airports do that already.
I prefer to spend a little more time on security, so i'm not bothered.

Exactly...that is why I would not fly...even if I had not already quit flying. I will not submit myself to questioning or search...unless a law enforcement officer has officially placed me under arrest.
