seeric 08-31-2004 01:57 PM

hey man, i did that surgery and all i can say is FUCKIN WOW

i did it 4 years ago and everyday my eyes are better. i was so amazed i told the doctor "ITS LIKE WALKING AROUND IN A DVD MOVIE" cuz its so sharp and vibrant. he know uses that statement in his marketing.

ITS THE SHIT

and the vicodins they give you for discomfort makes it all the funner. LOL.

you don't even know that they are doing the surgery. they give you valiums before and the next thing you know its over and you didnt even feel anything.

the only other advice ican give is when you come out with those funkyshades that they give you, try not to look at really bright things. i got a little headache becasue of the white cars in the parking lot on a sunny day.

other than that, this is one of the best decisions that youare making.

I had it done 4 years ago also... Fully awake.

It's so wild watching it ... ask for the video...they record the operation.. it's far out.

I didn't get any meds before/after .. only freezing eyedrops before the operation.... sat there about 5-10 minutes until my eyes were frozen and then 5/10 minutes later the procedure was done.

The sameday I could see better, however I just relaxed and kept doing the eyedrops. The next day it was unbelievable... just like the other guy said.. DVD scenes.. everything is so clear and the weirdest thing is you see more colors. It's unbelievable.

Before WITH glasses, I couldn't read the bottom lines of the eyecharts... Now I can read it with ease.

For the first 2 weeks you'll be adjusting and will be scared that your eyes are fucked up but it's all good... once in a while you'll have a blurry eye but it just needs an eyedrop.

Do LASIK today, you'll love it. Just make sure you're not getting PRK.. i've heard that's a bitch to heal.

Procedure for Lasik: They suck your eye with this little vacuum that holds your eye in place. They pull out this horizontal saw and slice your eye open. He holds that flap open and the laser starts it's magic. You'll smell something burning :) It almost smells like the dentist when he drills a tooth. Once that's done... he'll flush your eye and then put the flap back over and smooth it out. Then he goes on to the next eye. For about 10-15 minutes you will feel normal and then the light sensitivity sets in. They give you these huge black shades that old people wear regularily. You get driven home and do the shots for one day. Next day you're perfect, just do occassional shots.

You can elect to have your eyeducts unplugged but I found it better to leave them in.

Enjoy the operation, it's wicked.

Good luck with it~!! =) :thumbsup

Good luck with it :)

I've been wanting to get it done for a while now but don't know anyone who has had it done. Which doctor are you going to? Just wondering as I would like to look into him/her so long as you recomend them.

More Booze 08-31-2004 02:42 PM

Peaches 08-31-2004 02:45 PM

I don't know DH, friends who have had it have been OK right off the table - stop using it as an excuse to slack off for a few days :winkwink:

Good luck! I have perfect eyesight except for the dreaded old age far sightedness kicking in, but those who have had this operation are just AMAZED :thumbsup

On the plus side, as you get older apparently your pupils get smaller, so if you happened to have any substantial night vison issues, they'll go away on their own as you age. :thumbsup

dready 08-31-2004 03:13 PM

I'd like to do it soon, but want to get the new waveform lasik. It only uses the laser on the parts of your eye that actually need it and can give you up to 8/20 vision! Not sure if it's readily available yet though... it's a brand new technology.

slickcashlisa 08-31-2004 03:25 PM

Good Luck:)

XJ Man 08-31-2004 03:26 PM

I just had the surgery done on Fri, i've said it once and I'll say it a billion more times ITS THE BEST THING I'VE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF. Its amazing man, the results will blow your mind.

10 minutes of surgery to have 20/20 or better vision...can't beat that!

ChrisExtreme 08-31-2004 03:29 PM

It fast and painless, you'll be happy as hell with the results.
Good luck!

Axeman 08-31-2004 03:30 PM
