Are we approaching Civil War?

When is the last time there was so much anger in this country?

So much division?

I highly doubt we're really approaching a civil war just being a bit dramatic, but I do believe that if we continue with another 4 years with the current administration and it's bully practices you're going to start to see some violent demonstrations.

Screaming 08-31-2004 10:54 AM

there seems to be alot of anger boiling and if it does explode i think i might relocate to the islands

EviLGuY 08-31-2004 10:55 AM

I really don't see all the soccer moms sending their kids off to do battle with their fellow americans over the Republican and Democrat BS.

cherrylula 08-31-2004 10:55 AM

Guess you missed the 60s and 70s, this is nothing. This rent a mob protests anything and everything. Look at the numbers there is nothing to it.

John Titor is a time traveller from 2036.

He says there will be a 15 year civil war in the US starting
early next year and culminating in the division of the country into 5 separate states
each with its own president.

Some pretty entertaining reading there for you conspiracy buffs and sci fi fans :winkwink:

I was born in 66...and this is what I'm talking about...I think we're poised to relive some of our most violent times...and no right now this is nothing...but if things continue to boil like this the next 4 years could possibly make the 60's look look like the 50's.

To the average american it probably is.. people naturally hate war. Wars against your fellow countrymen are even harder to stomach.

Usually it takes religion to get the ball rolling...

Try staying with me.

I stated in my post that the civil war statement was being dramatic...and went on to say that I think we will see violent protests.

Right now the current conditions are just a breeding ground for homegrown terrorists.

Much appreciated.

WickedVenus 08-31-2004 11:16 AM

Maybe not a civil war, but a mass death toll somewhere. I agree that if we keep up with the administration that we currently have, there will be more rough times ahead than we have seen. I dont see it as a civil war, becasue Bush is anything but civil. And with his Keep no child behind act, well I can understand why he wants that: Look at all his speeches he was obviosly left behind somewhere. Dont get me wrong I agree with keeping no child behind, but I dont believe in 99.9% of the things that he has done to our country since he has been in office. If he gets re-elected we are going to have noting but mass-havoc. Lets hope for eveyones sake he doesnt get reelected. If he does im running for the hills while I still have a chance.

world war war?

Fletch XXX 08-31-2004 11:17 AM

lets be logical, and be honest.

do you think if GW Bush wins, will there be an increase in internal terrorism?

i think so, and if that be the case, then its only to assume things could get worse and worse thus ending up in a far more guerilla warfare type of situation. If enough people band together, as Che Guevera says in his Guerilla Warfare piece, once the oppressors are in power, the need to create a need for revolution is not necessary, because peace between government and man has already been broken and the call for revolution already exists.

Violent demonstrations are even a bit of a stretch, since you don't have nearly as many young people in the US as you did in the 60s.. what with that whole baby boom thing.

Now all those baby boomers are getting older and I am sure a lot of them have shifted from being Democrats to Republicans.

It'd really take something big I think to get the lazy youth of today demonstrating in mass.

Totally I think there will be. Ok lets look at it this way I think we may have another riot situation if he wins. I mean look at all the people that protested the other day in new york.

One encouraging thing I've seen is the grumblings of the 'moderate republican', who appear to be increasingly marginalized by the current extremist faction in power. I don't know if they'll ever vote democrat, but its good to know that some repubs aren't 100% behind stringing up brown people and burning gays on a cross.

Of course, the bushies will, for a few months every 4 years, try to play up the 'compassionate' angle and the MTV-attention span voters will forget about the ugliness long enough to vote the party line, so there's only so much encouragement to be taken from that 'moderate streak'.

It has nothing to do with getting large groups to demonstrate in mass..it only takes a few dedicated to cause havoc.

people are protesting. fox and cnn wont show it to you, change the channel.

most simply cheer their arrest instead of their call.

its funny you say that.. have you ever heard of John Titor?

if not check out this site about him, http://www.johntitor.com/

he claims he is from the future and he says a civicwar will start in 2005 and wont end till 2015 when WWIII is broken out, 3million people will die in 2015 due to a huge nuke....

some crazy shit he came up with, pretty interesting reading even if you are not into the whole sci fi thing (im not, and im not a believer of time travel... but just what he says is interesting shit)

Of course there will.

I'm not talking about an actual increase of terrorism (although there is a good probability that there will be). I'm talking about right-wingers labelling any sort of 'undesirable' behaviour as 'terrorism'.

Citizen doing chalk writing on city streets in protest? :warning TERRORIST
Downloading .mp3s from P2P? :warning TERRORIST
Not buying a big mac and an SUV when told? :warning TERRORIST... AND HIPPIE

The War on Terra was the greatest idea evar for people who want to oppress others. It'll probably trump religion as the 'bloodiest ideal of all time', given the chance.

EviLGuY 08-31-2004 11:27 AM

As an addendum..

Basically all a few violent protests / acts from a small segment of the American people will do, even if they are protesting the erosion of their civil liberties, is scare the majority of people into allowing George Bush to FURTHER erode those liberties in the name of security.

johnbosh 08-31-2004 11:28 AM

hope not civil war is the most hated thing

Once again stay with me...LOL

Did I say anything about people affecting change?

NO..all I said was... "but I do believe that if we continue with another 4 years with the current administration and it's bully practices you're going to start to see some violent demonstrations."

Which I believe we will.

There are angry people on both sides...I wouldn't be surprised if Kerry won that you would maybe see violent opposition from that end as well.

Consider the fact that we're into a presidency that a lot of people believe is illegitimate, and won illegaly...imagine if he gets 4 more years and continues on the same path of divisivness...you will see some violence.
People are angry, people are livid.
This country has regressed domestically and internationally...we thought we learned from past mistakes but it's clear it doesn't matter what history taught us if one man and his administration can dictate our future so easily.

I'm predicting anyone who does, whether its you or not, will meet with the governments, strong arm of the law with the backing of 99% of the people.

look at the trash currently protesting in NY. No one is boo hooing over the police rounding them up.
