Am I the only one HATING quicktime ?
 

it fucking takes over all extensions when you install it and shit .

But half of the vids posted here needs quicktime ...

you can choose which file extensions you want it to recognize.

quicktime and realtime always does that shit. even when you uncheck the things when start up happens,they still start-up with their shit

I personally don't have it installed on any of my systems. If I really really want to watch a qt video i install it then uninstall after watching. I hate the thing

Tried them all, I far and away prefer using windows media player. It "takes over" nothing, it never auto-starts, it just works the way I want it to work. Everyone has a personal preference, this one is mine.

I'm not talking about the format there btw . I'm talking about their fucking player

Realplayer has improved quite a bit, I used to dread using it years ago but find it to buffer faster than anything out there now. The picture quality is still a little weak though.. :2 cents:

Perhaps in terms of quality, but do you still have to scroll down in that box (when installing) to see all those shit services they signing you up with?

I agree i'm using real player 10 and the buffering is not even noticeable.

Everything about quicktime sucks... Crap player, format, compression and pushed on you from a crappy company. If you've ever installed it you can get back some of your memory by opening task manager and killing qttask.exe.. You don't need it. Get used to it though, every time you reboot it will start and the player will edit your registry to add it to startup everytime you play a video...

At least the Real Video's format has good compression. Just use 'Real Alternative'

i dislike quicktime also. I have it installed but I never use it on my computer

its extremely buggy, and yeah loves to hijack all your other apps. but its kindof a necessary evil here on GFY.

I HATE quicktime. But I do think you can customize it during install so it doesn't take over all your extensions.

I haven't had any extension or auto-start up problems with quicktime. Maybe I'm using an older version? Real, on the other hand, I won't fucking touch it.

I'll never install quicktime again. I hate it. The last time I uninstalled it, it still tried to update itself. :eek7

Why? I don't use it at all, and I've viewed tons of video files posted here, with my windows media player. I can't recall ever having a problem except for the odd time I don't have the proper codec installed.

I like Quicktime.. its good quality and a decent filesize.

This is a perfect example of people not reading a whole thread. There have been several threads lately with people bitching about QuickTime or RealPlayer, people post alternatives, others keep posting how much they hate them, then some of the same people are in the next thread bitching about them... sigh:glugglug
