Memory Speed is 4200

Jay_StandAhead 08-25-2004 01:54 PM

only thing that suck is the video card, otherwise, great pc!

NinjaSteve 08-25-2004 01:54 PM

For what you got the price seems decent (since you didn't build it yourself). Now compare what you have to Alienware www.alienware.com and you'll feel better about how much you spent.

MickeyG 08-25-2004 01:54 PM

nice machine! did you order mine too?

warlock5 08-25-2004 01:54 PM

The price isn't too bad for what you got, but I wouldn't have gone with a Compaq.

exposed 08-25-2004 01:55 PM

nice just expect the cd rom to go out in about a year

ColBigBalls 08-25-2004 01:55 PM

naw thats pretty good. its a shitload of ram and a big vid card.. that machine should last a wile withough haveing to to alota upgrades... my only complaint is its a compaq. other then that looks good

railz 08-25-2004 01:56 PM

That's not bad Bone, especially with the X600 (still not up too much on the PCI-E cards)

I think you got a decent deal.

Reak 08-25-2004 01:56 PM

I paid about 3k euro for mines but i'm in Holland :thumbsup

boneprone 08-25-2004 01:56 PM

I had my card out.. I was gunna put $1000.00 into my sportsbook account , but said fuck it, and went to hp.com instead and bought a PC instead.

I feel kinda proud of myself.

I still have no idea how im gunna handle Vegas next week.

I have a feeling Ill be buying a lot of shit to keep me from gambling.

Ill take my camrea and pics of all the toys and crap I buy while im there.

Should be intresting.

Does that video card suck?? Is that the same as the graphics card?? I paid extra for that, got the most expensive one on the list..

I knew you paid too much the instant I saw Compaq...

I've had more trouble with them than any other computer I've had or tinkered with.

Yeah I bought one back in 2001 back when PC's were breaking that 1 Ghz barrier.. Paid 1500.00 for it, didnt like it and then gave it away..

For free I gave it away..

Gave it to dank.

15 months later he threw it in the river, becasue he thought the FBI was after em and his hard drive would be looked at.

LOL.

This one better not be like that one in 2001.

But My current home PC will still be around, and I bought a nice Fujitsu laptop 2 weeks ago for 2k that is unreal... I love it.

I just hope this new one is a beast.

teleblade69 08-25-2004 02:02 PM

bp,

it depends on what you are going to do with that PC

When you are going to use 3D studio Max and when you want to do some video editing then i would have taken a different card but it's a nice configuration

The 2Gb RAM is kinda useless because Win XP only uses 1Gb of it max

My :2 cents:

tb

Well fuck...

Why didnt these mother fuckers tell me that?

It cant use the 2 gig?

Nate-MM2 08-25-2004 02:06 PM

The ProMedia line from Klipsch doesn't come cheap, even for just the 2.1 system (which I prefer anyways)

Yeah i noticed that.

Its double or tripple the price of any other speaker system. Way more than the competition's 5.1 speaker systems.

But it seems its way more powerful.. 200 watt on the 2.1 alone.

Shit better be good.

Id rather have 3 powerful quality speakers than 6 or 7 or whatever the fuck those other speakers come with.

I dont want speakers all over my office. I want quality and power with fewer speakers and this is supposed to be the BEST.

boneprone 08-25-2004 02:11 PM

Can anyone else confirm for me the 2 gig of RAM thing??

That Win XP can only use 1 gig max anyhow so i just wasted my 200.00 or so bucks on getting 2 gig?

I remeber hearling this back in the day with the older PC's and operationg systems but thought XP could use it?

DarkJedi 08-25-2004 02:11 PM

good setup.

BRISK 08-25-2004 02:16 PM

Do you edit video? because that is a lot of HD space

JSA Matt 08-25-2004 02:17 PM

That's one expensive Compaq.

I have 2 gigs running right now, XP SP2. Both Home and Pro can handle up to 4 gigs.

Yeah but the dude in the above post was saying XP cant utilze more than a GIG of RAM.. So 2 Gig is a total waste since it cant even break the 1 gig barrier.

True?

My old Home PC is Alienware, and the other is HP..

The HP is what I love. Been using hp at home since 1999.

False. See my edit above, it can support up to 4 gigs.

Nice setup, I didn't know those 3.6 CPU's were even available yet. If I'd have seen that I might have bought it as well. Your system will smoke for video work with the RAID 0.

XP can use 2gigs of RAM no problem. Most boards can only support a maximum of 4 so the limit is the hardware not the OS.

I just ordered a P4 Extreme Edition 3.4 CPU which I intend to clock up to 3.6. At these speeds the Intel chips are the fastest available.

You're fine. Right click on My Computer and click properties. Does it say you have 2GB of ram? I bet it does :)

Yeah i didnt know the 3.6 was out yet either...

I was just surfing around and saw it.. The other PC sites didnt have em for sale yet. Just compac.. SO i got it.

teleblade69 08-25-2004 02:28 PM

it will work fine with 2gb in it but i don't think you will ever use more than 1gb exspecially with win xp home running.

btw is it 2 x 1gb or 1 x 2gb

Because when you have 2x 1gb you have at least dual channel (faster use of your memory)
