Yahoo groups question - can you message every group?

can you message every single group there is with something like 'i just got a new group started.. its at...." or does yahoo can the group quickly?

if so, how would you get traffic to your group?

Yes, but you have to hack yahoo's main server and do it with root access.

if someone who has some actual experience with yahoo, knows their limits, knows how many messages yahoo can take from one ip, for one yahoo account, for one website in the message, etc.. hit me up.

i can automate every single thing.

ICQ me, Myst. Perhaps I can help :)

In order to send a message to a group you need to sign up for that group...

Recently they introduced the "what's the word in the image" test when signing up, so signing up for groups is not as easy any more...

Unless you really know what you are doing, you may be a bit late for the yahoo group spamming deal...

fr8 08-19-2004 09:48 PM

the what's the word in the image really fucks things up.

Myst 08-19-2004 09:49 PM

whats that called?
OCR?

what does that stand for?

And there is a limit on the number of groups you can be a member of at one time, so spamming like that won't work.

Moreover, most of the groups are moderated so your messages will never make it out of the group founders inbox.

I have very little patience for webmasters looking for the easy way to make money by spamming, which is exactly what this is.

Do it the right way. Start your own yahoo groups, advertise them, and then you can spam the shit out of them if you want.

clearly you dont have a clue what youre saying lol

as for the limit to number of groups, thats easy to workaround when youre a programmer.. if i need group_count/10 accounts, then so be it.. ill make those accounts

VeriSexy 08-19-2004 10:05 PM

Cool, tell us when the programm is ready :)

Yahoo kills accounts daily doesn't it? How many of the adult groups are more than 1 year old?

you can still sign up for big ass groups with mad members but most of those are just 100% spam anyway and doesn't generate shiat...its a little more difficult to automate the yahoo gayness now..

All of mine are well over a year old. I've NEVER had one shut down and I have several. But I don't spam them so that may be a reason.

Mike Okitch 08-19-2004 10:15 PM

Myst, whenever you have some proggie set up for that, do let me know.

boobmaster 08-19-2004 10:17 PM

Yahoo groups are an excellent way to get traffic. I get a lot of traffic from my groups but I also get a lot of automated SPAM, none of which ever makes it into my grious. But it is a pain in the ass dealing with it when I review posts. You can make money from yahoo groups. DON'T FUCK IT UP FOR EVERYONE BY SPAMMING.

Don?t think that technology is going to work this time.

If you're targetting adult emails who have an interest in porn - sure, I really don't care. Remember, these people are joining other adult groups, and spamming messages to adult members who openly joined the group also. Immoral? Not really. Ethical? Possibly not. Acceptable? Sure.

As long as you own the group or have the founder's permission, I see nothing wrong with it. This will only work for unmoderated groups anyway and noone reads those anymore. Might as well spam the newsgroups.

Did you read Gene's article? He's undoubtedly treading a fine line, but the strategy proposed falls a long way short of the evils of indiscrimate e-mail spam.
