What country do you live in?

Tell me about it, what makes it a great place to live & even what sucks about it. I'm especially interested in hearing from webmasters living outside of the US.

I've been looking at options for other countries to move to, and would love to hear some firsthand experiences.

Frank The Tank 07-25-2004 02:00 AM

Ireland

great beer , gorgeous women , decent weather

high costs of living , backwards government

Theo 07-25-2004 02:00 AM

why would you want to move from the land of free and brave?

AgentCash 07-25-2004 02:02 AM

Cause I'm a lazy mofo and don't feel like cross referencing anything. :glugglug

kahloz 07-25-2004 02:16 AM

dude, move out of the US?

what's your malfunction?

Move to another CITY or something, don't leave the USA!

(waves american flag)

come move to NYC, everywhere else there'd be dragons out there! :Graucho

Manowar 07-25-2004 02:23 AM

England. High tax, Bad people.

Theo 07-25-2004 02:27 AM

it's crazy decision to move to another country just for the new law regarding content.

Thank you.

Take it from someone that came from another country as a kid, it's not a pretty sight out there.

THERE'D BE DRAGONS OUT THERE!!!

Worse comes to worse you can start an independent corp in the country of your choice with affiliations over there who will handle the legal matters of "said" context.

Therefore still holding all legal claims but none of the dangers of the actual consent from American legal systems.

But I stress my point,

THERE'D BE DRAGONS OUT THERE!!!

Move to Vegas, Miami, San Diego, New York City or even Atlanta if you're tired where you are.

JUST DON'T LEAVE AMERICA!

(unless you're from ohio then anything I said is complete and total bull and you should leave america because your kind doesn't belong here in the first place) :Graucho

Believe me, that's not the only reason, and not even a major one. I think a change of scenery will be nice. I'd like to step out of my door and see something other than idiots driving 12,000 lb SUVs with Bush - Cheney bumper stickers flipping off other drivers as they rush to chuch.

Paul Markham 07-25-2004 02:37 AM

Czech Republic

Good things.
Great beer and wine, women, people, prices, porn/sex is not illegal or a sin, can drive at 120 mph and get fined $30, food is pretty good.

Bad things.
Language and the weather, if you're from CA or FL.

Geez, you must live in the mid-west cause it's not like that in NYC and it's definately NOT like that in Miami, Fort Lauderdale or Hollendale (all places I frequent at least twice a year) :thumbsup

Well, if you do leave the country just DON'T GO TO CANADA!

THERE'D BE FRENCH DRAGONS THERE! :banana

Added to my list of countries to check out. :thumbsup

Czech looks very nice, but im afraid now with the euro currency prices will go up like it happened in the past with the rest countries.

Dirty Dane 07-25-2004 03:15 AM

I heard Saudi should be a great place. You can only make NN sites...but hey! it's not cold and almost no taxes.

alexg 07-25-2004 03:23 AM

Israel

advantages: Sunny weather, beaches, nightlife, real democracy in the middle east, the dead sea (lowest place on earth), the holy land, etc'

disadvantages: what you see on CNN, being checked by security guards any place you go (this is already similar in the US)

monaro 07-25-2004 03:44 AM

G'day Mate! I am in the land down under
"Australia"

Come down and see our beaches. Try out the fishing and live it up in he land of the free!

Something to watch out for tho are funnel web spiders and I would like to add that Australia have the 10 most deadliest snakes in the world.

I also believe we brew the best beer on earth.

Cheers! Have a great day!

tgpmakers 07-25-2004 04:05 AM

The UK well what can I say about it mmmmm

Bad weather, moody women, warm beer even in winter, bad people, crap houses, high tax's, council tax.

apart from that it's great fabulous place to live. I would recomend holland, amsterdam they seem to have the right idea over there hahaha.

Wow there mister living in another country that is not the USA; our security is NOT like what we see on CNN of other places.

This coming from someone who lives in NYC.

Besides, the police here are FAR MORE INTERESTED in giving out tickets for parking violations.

150$ FOR DOUBLE PARKING.

THAT'S SO ... SO... SO... THIRD WORLD COUNTRIE-ISH! :feels-hot

New Zealand is just like australia, but no snakes :) or spiders
Ok it's a bit colder and the beaches aren't as nice, but we don't have an idiot for a prime minister so... Reasonably cheap cost of living too, if you're earning USD.

pelcito 07-25-2004 04:18 AM

Uruguay here!.

Advantages: It's very cheap, you got hundred of cool beaches, it's a very calm country.

Disadvantages: Is too small, there are ver few people living here (About 3millon), the poor zones...

Here you have a nice pic:

Next summer I am tripping over to NZ for a long overdue holiday. I hear NZ have the best fishing on the planet.

Forget all these third world countries, they'll turn you in for a turkey, a coca-cola and some jerky-beef!

oh. I guess I was wrong there

I had the impression that after 9/11 the security measures in the US rised

They did rise, now they don't only check blacks and hispanics, they check middle-easterners too. :1orglaugh

It's not like they're pulling people off the street and holding them against their will... oh wait, they are.

But it's not like it is in like... well, everywhere else BUT here. :winkwink:

The only thing the terrorist attacks did here in NYC was make everyone nicer to each other; the cops are actually paying more attention and crime has gone down a lot.

But it's still America, it's still the Land of The Free, and it's still my home and I have, I do, and I will always feel safe in New York City. (waves american flag, plays the national anthem)

Out of New York City however... I don't feel safe at all, but that's different. :)

Then you should go to Australia.

buddyjuf 07-25-2004 06:11 AM

Montreal, Canada:

the girls are fantastic, and you have from all races, especially europeans!

the nightlife here in Montreal is honestly kickass, there isn't a single night where you can't go out and have fun!

we also have 4 very different seasons (for those into that stuff) alot of snow in the winter so you can easily ski and snowboard

perfectodollars-gabrio 07-25-2004 06:17 AM

Italy here ;-)

i guess a big pro is the food, and also girls are nice, although in most cases they are NOT down to earth, if you get what i mean, and beautiful and relaxing places to go
