exactly, if you cant drive the lane and dribble twice being 7' 300+ lbs you got issues. God forbid a playoff game or championship game came down to the last seconds with him at the line

NickHimself34 07-12-2004 03:15 PM

I'm so glad to see LA is being dismantled. Almost as sweet as if it were the Yankees being split up.

i agree i don't like shaq

sickkittens 07-12-2004 03:20 PM

Shaq travels and fouls people every time he touches the ball. Basketball in general is not what it used to be.

Miami is expected to send a package that includes Lamar Odom, Brian Grant, one other player -- perhaps Caron Butler -- and a first-round draft choice to Los Angeles in exchange for the 7-foot-1, 340-pound O'Neal.

He's not in the game to be shooting free throws...

okny 07-12-2004 03:22 PM

I dont think he sucks, but in the nba if you havent yet noticed it doesn't take one player to win a game, The one person i give credit to, is KG the best player period. Shaq just scores some points and gets a few rebounds, KG plays the game with love and pure skill in every field.

LaurieX 07-12-2004 03:25 PM

I don't like him either

What solution do you have for the hack a shaq?

D-Money 07-12-2004 03:31 PM

Does this deal free up money for the Lakers? I mean, they should have a ton of money now to get a solid center.

Dirk would be great, but would never happen. They wanted Shaq for him and even still, they wouldn't do it.

They better send Kobe to basketball camp to learn that team game this summer.

As a Laker fan, I'm torn. I loved Shaq as a Laker, but hated when he'd miss key free throws and not try hard during the season. If I had my choice, I'd still have him and deal with it. He can dunk at will on anyone, when he has enough gas in his tank.

Watch, he'll work hard in the off season and play his best ever with fresh legs and fast breaks. Fucker!

Could you imagine if the Lakers trade their future 1st round pick in this deal with Payton, Brian Grant and that other young baller the Lakers got in that trade, plus maybe a Rick Fox, Kareem Rush and whoever, then in return got KG? Now that would make me a believer again that the Lakers could go all the way. KG with Kobe! I hope Mitch Fuckcheck can make that one happen.

Strife 07-12-2004 03:38 PM

Lakers are not going to get Dirk. Mark Cuban ain't letting him go

I cant stand his big cry baby ass, bye bye and dont ever come back to the lakers

Keev 07-12-2004 04:27 PM

oh well if shaq was coming to your team you would be pissing yourself and only reason shaq went to miami is becuase shaq has a 60,000 sq home in orlando and lakers don't want to trade shaq to a western conference team that will come back against them. I like the guy, rather than Kobe and the whole individual style of play. Shaq should fit nicely into the heats offense.

And I am a die hard laker fan since the pre magic / bird era

Put him on the bench if they're ahead by enough...or simply enough don't give him the ball...

The deal Frees up ZERO money. In order to make the trade, combined salaries from both teams have to be within a certain % of each other (forget the exact number)

Besides the fact that the trade is lopsided in talent, the Lakers are now stuck with Brian Grant who is physically beaten down, he has got an outrageous contract for the next 3 years. Also the guy might not even pass his physical which would void the trade

Not sure what the obssesion is with Dirk either. He is a 7 footer who has got no inside game and plays zero D.

Shaq - $32.4 M

Grant - $15.6 M
Odom - $10.6 M
Buttler - $3.3 M
Total - $29.5 (2.9 less than Shaq's $32.4)

Actually Shaq is less then that.. something like 26.5 per..

He is looking for a max extension that could only pay him 2yrs/60 mill..

I think those figures on Grant are his last years salary.

I could very well be wrong though I am looking these up now

Shaq made $26.5 last season. He has 2 years left on his 208 million contract which pays him $29,464,285 for 2004-05 and $32,410,713 for 2005-06

Kalifornia 07-12-2004 06:43 PM

Yeah seems pretty lopsided unfortunately, but what are you going to do? It's pretty clear Shaq doesn't want to play for the Lakers anymore, so some trade had to happen and there wasn't many good options. Shaq is a lazy greedy fuck anymore and I'm glad he's going. It was the right thing to do to focus around Kobe since he's the best all around player in the NBA and has a drive to play and win. I just hope he doesn't go to jail. I don't think he will.

I guess they forced the lakers to take Grant in order to make this deal possible.... imho they should have got wade instead of future first rounder... that would have been sweet... maybe swap firsts
