the 2 hours after sunset pics....

It's amazing but even 2 hours later, you can still catch a hint of sunlight if you set the camera to capture enough light.

A little closer up on one of them... sorry if the world looks slanted. It's only because.. well, it is :winkwink:

I knew you would be taking some pics tonight. I was at the beach and snapped a few myself. :thumbsup

StuartD 06-29-2004 11:07 PM

And finally, in the other direction, the *almost* full moon... it's looking pretty damn good up there right now.

Can't resist it... it's an unbelievable night. I think it's actually almost as hot out there now as it was around 4 or 5pm.

I wish my camera could do that!

FilthyRob 06-29-2004 11:09 PM

Fucking awesome, keep those ocean shots coming!

StuartD 06-29-2004 11:11 PM

Are any of you astrologers?

See that white dot in the top right of the first pic?? I'm curious what that is. It's almost exactly west from here... so I know it's not the "north star"

I'm thinking it might be Venus.. since it should still be visible.

It's hella bright, I mean.. you can see in the pic, no other stars shown through but that one is clearly visible.

Any thoughts?

jwerd 06-29-2004 11:13 PM

Just for fun, I tried a picture towards the moon with the same settings I used for the ships. Interesting results :)

Just a standard Canon Powershot A70... nothing special. Costs less than $400.

I got a 2.4x zoom lense for it, but no filters or anything special for it either. It just lets me get in a little closer on those moon shots.

It's really not photographer equipment, just a point and click camera :winkwink:

Good stuff, good luck. Don't get discouraged if the pics don't turn out all that great the first time you try it. Taking pics of the sunset is easy enough but it took me a while to adjust to getting just the right settings to make it look how I wanted.

It can be a good hobby though. It has really helped to take my mind off things.

I hope you get some good shots... be sure to share with us if you do :)
