SEO Experts, can I get your opinion on Google's reply on PR0 consumptionjunction.com?
SEO Experts, can I get your opinion on Google's reply on the PR0 ranking for consumptionjunction.com?
Hi Rick, Thank you for your note. We searched for your site and found that it is currently included in our search results. To see the results of our search, please visit the following link: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...=Google+Search As you may know, results in our index change regularly based on ongoing, automated processes aimed at improving the quality and content of our search results. Changes you observe may include, but are not limited to, addition of new sites, changes in the ranking of existing sites, sites falling out of the index or getting dropped and sites' content fluctuating between old and new content. We realize these changes can be confusing. However, these processes are completely automated and not indicative of wrong-doing or penalization of individual sites. We currently include over four billion pages in our index and it is certainly our intent to represent the content of the internet fairly and accurately. The ongoing changes you have observed are part of this effort. While we cannot guarantee that your page will consistently appear in our index or appear with a particular rank, we do offer guidelines for building a "crawler-friendly" site. You can find these guidelines at http://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html. Following these recommendations may increase the likelihood that your site will show up consistently in Google search results. We hope the information we have provided above is helpful to you. Due to the tremendous volume of information and help requests we receive, we are not always able to provide personal attention to questions pertaining to individual websites. If this response did not adequately resolve your question, we hope that you will visit the webmaster section of our site at http://www.google.com/webmasters/. In an effort to better address your needs, we've dedicated this entire section of our website to answering common webmaster questions, listing Google's quality requirements and recommendations, and much more. Of course, we cannot anticipate and answer everyone's questions on our website. Realizing this, we have also created a Google discussion group on Google Groups where Google users and webmasters can connect to share their vast knowledge and experience. You can access this group at http://groups.google.com/groups?q=go...pport.general. If you have already checked the webmaster section of our website and haven't found an answer, we encourage you to post your question to the Google Support group. Regards, The Google Team Original Message Follows: ------------------------ From: "Rick Latona" <[email protected]> Subject: Our Site was banned and we've done nothing wrong Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2004 07:41:09 -0700 Hello, I own ConsumptionJunction.com one of the largest websites in the world. We get millions of unique visitors each day and we've never done link trades or anything else that could possibly be construed as unfair manipulation of the Google.com search results. We have 10s of thousands of links out there pointing at our site and all those links were placed on the web out of free will by the owners of the respective websites. Why then were we banned? When I search for Consumption Junction I only find sites that have nothing to do with Consumption Junction! Please look into this and tell me what I can do to get consumptionjunction.com unbanned. We should have a PR 8 but instead we have a PR 0. It just isn't fair. Rick Latona |
doesnt look like an answer to your question at all.. more of an automated responce..

Automated answer :)
:1orglaugh :1orglaugh Gotta love the technology |

Hmm, well Rick, if it's not automated, it certainly stinks of "boilerplate" to my nose..
I guess you can check their advice anyway. Same would apply to any site though... |
btw rick I get HTTP/1.1 500 Server Error when I click hatemail on your site
|
I tell you google support is morons...
I have been reporting an bad ad to google-adwords support but they TRY to not understand. I told them the keywords and now they ask me if it's in there search results or a paid ad. Dont expect any clear answers, they dont give a shit. btw, that was my third e-mail to them and there third reply. :helpme |
That is definately an automated answer. I recieved the same answer about the same problem.

Now this is quite interesting...
I remember when we spoke on the phone the other day you had a PR0 and no backlinks. Even a search for consumption junction yielded no results on CJ's domain. While doing a search today still yields no results for CJ's domain, it seems you now have a PR3 and 175 backlinks (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l... nction.com%2F). What's more interesting is that there seems to be over 4100 references/citations (a lot of which are links) with Consumption Junction (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...tion.%2Bcom%22). Based on the backlinks you have shown above, you should definitely have at least a PR6 given that the sites linking to you are mostly PR5's and 6's as well. I also noticed this: http://www.consumptionjunction.com/: 3/10 http://consumptionjunction.com/: 0/10 When I goto the www version, I get redirected to http://www.consumptionjunction.com/home.asp In general, Google doesn't like redirections but this should not be enough of a reason to get you such a low PR of just 3. Anyone else have ideas? I'm at a loss myself. The PR should be much higher than just 3. But I suppose this is much better than when we spoke on Monday and it wasn't in Google at all. WG |
when i search for
Consumption Junction i get 141 k results and your site is the first one with a PR 3. :2 cents: |
I wonder how far this will go :(
|
it's not automated answer, but a template reply. Pretty much the same (if not the exact) a friend received on a similar question. If you further reply you'll get a more human answer.
|
i see your site has PR3 now
that wasnt the case 2 days ago |

Who's dick do we have to suck to be on the top of this page? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...=Google+Search
|
That sucks Rick. I'm showing a 0 PR for CJ also.
That response was weak from Google. Btw, you should go after all the fuckers scamming your brand name. Looks like there are a lot of them out there based on the search results that came up. |
Rick, I have a question. How much bandwidt do you burn per day on Consumption Junction? :)
|
I've gotten the same letter after bitching about low rankings for a term I'm legitimately optimized for and spend 1000's on adwords for.

I was the one who pointed this out to rick that morning that it happend but when i posted that he had a pr 0 he STILL had listings in google but after 30 minutes or so he had nothing
and now I am still seeing PR 0 for the site across the boards |

I show a 3 for http://www.consumptionjunction.com with 173 backlinks. I show a 0 for http://www.consumptionjunction.com/home.asp, didn't check the backlinks.
As to why your a 3 and not 5 or 6 (don't think adult sites get any higher), I don't know. You need to hire a good SEO to work on the site. |

If it looks like bullshit, smells like bullshit, and feels like bullshit then more than likely it is bullshit. Their whole response is bullshit if you ask me. They are definitely (was or is) penalizing you. There is no way you can have that many links directed to you and come up with a PR0. Not all of those links are redirects. Sounds fishy, or I should say smells shitty. |

The free web space guy said there is nothing wrong with him having a program that generates pages to manipulate Google and I can threaten legal suits all I want but he won't remove it. Now I'm pissed. Does anyone know if there is a precedent here?
|
Hey Rick,
Jay and I were discussing this as well. I honestly can not figure out why this has happened to CJ. As per the guys targetting "consumption junction" in the SE's, go after them. Not only does that term receive lots of traffic, but I'm willing to bet that it's higher than average quality SE traffic. (Those top listings are stealing a lot of what should be your traffic and money) Good luck. |
rick yahoo seems to like you
http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=sl...-8&p=free+porn number 9 i dont understand why its a PR3 , you have a few PR6 links and quite a few PR5. dont worry so much about your PR , try and get more text on the main page. |

Isnt this a PR leak that can be easily fixed? |
WEll it looks like a copy and paste reply to me. A few weeks ago i spoke to Marc about your google situation (yes in panama).
Then again, google is a weird bitch to control. I have a few k keywords ranked #1-#5 .. example "sex videos". Sometimes my sites completly disappear from google, then a few weeks later i'm back on #1-#5. This freaks me out but i'm used to it now. check http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...8&q=sex+videos #4 is mine ... (yes it sucks, you know why :) I remember i sent an email to google support as well, and i got this reply: 1) a technical glitch on our side which caused us to 'miss' your site; we crawl over 2 billion pages every few weeks; hiccups will happen. Google is a free service; as such, there is no guarantee that any site will appear in our index. 2) Your site was unreachable when we tried to crawl it; it was down for maintenance, or the server crashed. You can check your server logs to see if you had any down time in the past four to six weeks. 3) Your content changed significantly as did links pointing to your page and you no longer have page rank or your page had low page rank to begin with and a small change caused you to be dropped. Despite the frustration this may cause you, we are not able to 'fix' it. It is likely that your page will reappear when we update our index again in a few weeks. Talk to ya soon, B. |
