I went to the CHIHULY glass exhibit at the Atlanta Botanical Garden and took a few pics. The work this guy does is truly amazing.

That is awesome, I love glass art work. In San Fransisco at the SF MOMA they usually have pretty good stuff, or they did when I lived there.

Chichuly's work is in a couple of the casinos around here, includung the Bellagio. Dale did a sweet glass-and-ice thing a couple of years ago that was televised on PBS.

Fucking killler. One of the coolest places I've seen. Love this stuff. :thumbsup

Love how he incorperates it into the vegitation.

PersianKitty 05-28-2004 08:08 AM

I have several of his pieces. Some stored away until there are no kids or cats (like that will ever happen).

I had the great fortune of bidding and winning a dinner with him (he cooked) at the Boathouse studio on Lake Union in Seattle a few years back. The auction is an annual one for the Pilchuck Glass School. Needless to say it was an experience I'll never forget. Not only is he a great glass maker (although he more supervises these days), he's a great mind and very quick wit. We got the grand tour, a spaghetti dinner, a chance to watch the hot shop in action and personally signed and etched items to take home.

HAPPYPEEKERS 05-28-2004 08:09 AM

brand0n 05-28-2004 08:09 AM

Fletch XXX 05-28-2004 10:08 AM

This is why you will never find me fully diving into porn with no looking back.

I worked in art for years, I even half install Dale Chihuly, I have drank with him at a party for his installation we did.

I have books of his w3ork, and have even sold some of his work to raise funds for kids.

He is a cool guy, never had drinks with a guy with one eye before him.

:)

Creative 05-28-2004 10:08 AM

ill, you know i was thinking the sammme thing:winkwink:

edit: lmao, everyone look how nerdy fletch is.. (you can tell he has no offline friends)

Fletch XXX 05-28-2004 10:13 AM

If any of you know anything about Chihuly, he himself no longer blows glass, he has a team.

He lost an eye and i know the work carries his name and vision, but this is not the work of one guy.

I have seen them do this in person.

good stuff.
