really sad :(

LadyMischief 05-22-2004 07:28 AM

Still a good message. I lost someone I loved very much to a drunk driver, and I still think driving drunk is one of the most reprehensable things a person can do.

cayne 05-22-2004 07:30 AM

JDog 05-22-2004 07:34 AM

I saw that on Dateline or 60 minutes one of those shows like that. It was sad! I can't stand drunk drivers! And let me guess that guy is free?

ldinternet 05-22-2004 07:36 AM

The majority of the population are bad enough drivers WITHOUT being drunk. Really... common sense is the key. However, most people seem to be lacking that too. Shit is totally irresponsible.

The sad truth is that most people will never learn unless it actually happens to them.

plyndrty 05-22-2004 07:36 AM

OMG...no word's:(

i don't know if he's free. but I guess that stories like that should be public - that's the best way to prevent any motivation for drunk drivers. even slightly drunk ones.

Raf1 05-22-2004 07:39 AM

That story is pretty old. Sad stuff

Actualy it's not speed, it's how safe you can drive at high-speeds. It's if you know how to handle a vehicle!

But it's about the bad drivers, that think they know how to drive and they don't. It's about teh drivers that think they can drive drunk.

The thing is that ppl often overestimate themselves. Shumacher talked about that i remember - he said that it has nothing to do with Your skills when You are in the streets. The thing is that You compensate Your good skills (which makes the risk lower) with the high speed (which makes the risk higher) in the streets. Just don't be too fast.

I'm not talking about streets, I'm talking about highways. The open road, I only speed when there are NO cars around and if any come up, I slow the fuck down, because you need to watch the cars around you. Yes with high speed the risks go higher, but you need to know the physics of the car you're driving and how it will operate on certain turns. It's not for everybody.

Yep...I saw her on Oprah too. The police officer who made it to the scene first said he thought everyone was dead since the car was on fire, but then he heard the girl screaming. He reached in the car and pulled her out. He said her skin was so hot that some of it had melted onto the car's seat and he had to pull her from her own skin. It's such a sad story, but that girl is SO incredibly strong. She's inspirational. She talked about how she allows herself to cry for about 5 minutes a day then realizes how lucky she is (to be alive). Now, how many of us would consider ourselves LUCKY to be alive looking like she does? She's amazing.
