Ever thought of moving to South(Central)-America or Asia and live like a king?

Not paying any taxes and living off porn in a tropical paradise...
Why do so many of you stay in the US, Canada or Europe.

Sometimes I feel like moving to Brazil where with only 12,000$ a year you're considered wealthy...

you?

nathan_f 04-30-2004 11:40 PM

the feeling of security, and just being here period, is worth paying taxes to live in such a great country.

i <3 Canada.

cluck 04-30-2004 11:40 PM

Well, my family and friends live here. That and there's bigass spiders in south america or some shit. Who knows though, I'm only 20. I'll probably pick up and leave sometime soon.

ProfitPrograms 04-30-2004 11:41 PM

yes - I actually did that before - lived in Malaysia for over 3 years.. full time live-in maids - the whole deal - def worth it - the only problem is workin in the porn biz from there is getting harder

Rictor 04-30-2004 11:54 PM

I'm a little worried about being murdered and robbed in a 3rd world country. It doesn't happen quite as much here in the Midwest.

Its my plan to travel the world in 1.5 years from now.
3 months a year in Netherlands (my homebase), 3 months a year in Belgium, 3 months in Brazil and 3 months in yet another country that changes every year....

Sly_RJ 05-01-2004 12:59 AM

I've seriously been considering it lately. I'd like to move out of California within the next 9 months, wouldn't mind checking into my Caribbean and Central American options...

I am becoming an international gypsy at the end of this year,
first stop Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Mr. Marks 05-01-2004 01:15 AM

BradM 05-01-2004 01:18 AM

huh? you are aware that The Netherlands and Belgium are right next to each other aren't you? if you are going to go global.. it generally means different area codes at a minimum.

:winkwink:

rickholio 05-01-2004 01:37 AM

If Canada annexes the Turks/Caicos islands, we could live in Canada AND the tropics.

In fact, I fully intend on moving there if the deal goes through. Chances are it'd become part of the maritimes, and thus I wouldn't even have to move the paperwork for my corporation... just buy a metric asstonne of bermuda shorts and head to the airport. :thumbsup

Oh man, I hope we get 'em. Oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please...

Hehehe I am very aware. My homebase is Netherlands so I like to be with family sometime. Half the year is nice. If you stay in The Netherlands longer then 3 months you are a citizen though and have to pay taxes.
So in order not to pay taxes I would be an hour away for another quartal..
:winkwink:

Yeah, probably... but, like an old Habs fan, you just have to keep hoping against hope that someday, one day, everything will work out the way you want it (or close enough to not matter)

Preferably before I'm too old to enjoy it. :Buck:

$1000 per month is good, but not that good. São Paulo for example isn't cheap.

Internet connection? They call 256kbps "broadband" here, but I'm very happy with it.

1mbps ADSL is available in some states

Sly_RJ 05-01-2004 12:27 PM

What are prices like in the Caribbean? Any of the Islands... and what kind of Internet connections are available?

Jon 05-01-2004 12:30 PM

My family is pretty well connected with the Govt in Aruba, and I've been offered the chance to move down there many many times, but never wanted to. Perhaps in a few years from now. I've got friends living in Costa Rica, Vietnam and Thailand, that are involved in internet adult/casino businesses all living like serious kings. They all have their own hired aerial and ground transportation, women of every race color and shape on demand, butlers and maids, damn, I'm getting even more jealous writing this..

maybe, plenty depends on how much $ you have, and what you look like.

SAFETY, both of your person and your money, is a big concern in 3rd world countries.

in most places in SE Asia an anglo is relatively safe. not necessarily true for latin america or brazil.

some countries you cannot own fee simple property, or if you can it reverts to the state upon your demise (not the best scenario for estate planning.)

it is possible to do what you say, but it ain't that simple.

Rictor 05-01-2004 12:57 PM

I think about it every once in a while. Mostly it's a safety thing. I guess with enough research and understanding of the local culture I might try it.

Some one should start an adult webmaster expatriot site that has advice for people that want to move away from the U.S. for this reason.

stephanie m. 05-01-2004 01:01 PM

Yup, been here a year. I still dont feel like a queen though.

polish_aristocrat 05-01-2004 03:06 PM

Poland may not be an exotic country but you can feel safe here - well, maybe luxury cars get stolen still more often that in the US / Western Europe but you are safe when it comes to property / personal finances. You won't get fucked by the state, only have to have the patience to deal with stupid burocracy.
Many people here live the same life style as in Western Europe, but the majority does not, so the country is overall perceived as poor.
Internet connection is not a big problem and there are no dangerous spiders in Poland :winkwink:

KRL 05-01-2004 03:08 PM
