I Earned Some Serious Karma Points this morning - and it felt great!!!
I was at the Egg Platter having breakfast and there was a table of 4 soldiers sitting at the next booth. Two were American and two were British (I could tell by their uniforms and accents). We shared the same waitress so I asked her to bring me their check. I wrote on the check, "You've taken care of me, so I'm taking care of you. A warm hearted thanks to you all." and I paid their bill.
The part that made me feel good was when they went to leave they each individually stopped at my table, shook my hand and then gave me a firm salute! It was an awesome feeling! I had a brief chat with them all and they were a joint Marine detachment that just got back from Iraq. They were seriously pissed that they weren't there right now to help their comrades. Karma feels so good! :) |

A key life tip:
Always put people in a position to feel good about themselves. |
payin' it forward, hehe. :thumbsup

good for you man!:thumbsup

that was a grand thing to do. you should feel good about yourself, as that was a great way to remind our soldiers that we do appreciate all they do and risk :thumbsup

You broke the karma meter
you need to start all over COOL :thumbsup |
I haven't done this for soldiers but I have done it for college kids and old folks sitting all alone. For me the coolest part was not letting them know who had done it.. The first time I tried this I told the waitress I'd leave her $20.00 on my $6.00 tab if she would just tell them their breakfast had been paid for. It was really cool to watch them try to figure out who they thought had been the one to pay their bill.
I get just random people from time to time. Usually it's at breakfast, I get them when they least expect it :winkwink: |
awesome job :)

That's so awesome. Being former Air Force it means alot! I did that for some firefighters here one time and I still see them in our neighborhood from time to time....
