http://www.goodthink.com/writing/vie...d=11&page_id=2
On a whim, Patrick Combs deposited into his bank's ATM machine one of those "fake" checks you get in a junk mail letter, never expecting it to get cashed. But, to his surprise, they did cash it. That was only the beginning of his fascinating true story. Hear his amazing saga from beginning to end. |

Hehe, strange story
|
A simliar thing thing happened to me when I was 19- I deposited a check for $1,000 and hit two extra zeros on the ATM-
To my surprise a week later I still had over $100,000 in my acct! I took out $10,000 and 4 hours later came back to my parents house where I was living and the F-I was there with 5-0. Needless to say they explained how that money was NOT my MONEY. I explained to them my father put my tuition $$ in my account every month at that time .... Needless to say I talked my way out of it- but the bank knew I was a "hotshot" ...they didn't press any charges and away I went- I told a friedn about it, he did it too- but he started a check kiting scheme and banked over $200,000 that he actually spent - They caught him two mos later and he pleaded a no contest plea and made a deal to get out of Ohio for 7 years He is now working as a manager of the Four Season's hotel in Beverly Hills....17 years later I walk in the hotel and he is behind the counter- Hadn't seen him in ALL that time.... Turns out he straightened his life out working at a property in the Virgin Islands for 5 years working his way to upper management. He now works with every major celebrity in the world. |
I am on the Wall Street Journal section, great story.. seems like it goes on forever
