Senior Republican lawmaker says America may restart the military draft for Iraq war
 

A senior Republican lawmaker said that deteriorating security in Iraq may force the United States to reintroduce the military draft.

"There's not an American ... that doesn't understand what we are engaged in today and what the prospects are for the future," Senator Chuck Hagel told a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on post-occupation Iraq.

"Why shouldn't we ask all of our citizens to bear some responsibility and pay some price?" Hagel said, arguing that restoring compulsory military service would force "our citizens to understand the intensity and depth of challenges we face."

Perhaps you would prefer a world where the terrorists make laws, and decide foreign policy with a threat or a bomb? I can't see how you can stop either without a show of force, or actual pre-emptive strikes on enemy states, or those who harbor terrorists?

This is the website that handles the draft, they have a full pdf that says in spring of 2005 to make EVERYONE (male, female, illegals, sick or not, etc) to register for the draft. 18 1/2 to 26. They are talking about raising this to 32, even as high as 36 if needed.

Single child, college, nothing will keep you out. If you only have one leg you can work pushing paper for the GOV.

FULL draft age range is 16-60 - doubt it will ever be used again

Running off to another country? You still go, they'll pick you up and send you back. Eventually. Or sooner or later you'll come back to spend some cell time, one way or another.

Females are included in the current draft plans.

Single children would have to be allowed exemption IF they are the last of their bloodline.

Rangel put out a bill that ensures that the loopholes commonly used by rich people to get their kids out of the draft are closed. He did this because if the Repubs can't keep their kiddies out of it they won't reinstate the draft. He's publically stated he's against the draft both before and after submitting this bill. It's his way of fighting it.

Rangel's explained this a hundred times, it's no secret. Why are you the only one who doesn't know this?
