Very weak political move there ... not because they aren't supporting US wich is cool in my book cauz that whole war was bullshit ... because they bow down so fucking quickly.

VMAN 04-18-2004 09:47 AM

good for them!

nobody has any business invading any other country. If a country starts getting out of line and actually uses WMD's then take action.

Corleone 04-18-2004 09:47 AM

they're clever..

the us have all the oil.. so why should they stay there?

AaronM 04-18-2004 09:48 AM

AndrewKanuck 04-18-2004 09:50 AM

So they're saying they won't let Bush push them around and force them to keep troops there - but they'll allows the terrorists to convince them to pull the troops.....nice

Listen without getting political let me just say Spain does not want any more people blown up. The trains were blown up already and more bombs were found undetonated on the tracks.. I used to travel on those trains everyday myself when I used to live there.. Spain likes being a peaceful country and unfortunately ETA keeps disrupting the peace..but all in all no more people need to get hurt .. not like Spain has any real advantages of being there anyway.. whats in it for them?
They paid there dues and served their time there in Iraq as friends to the USA.. how much more do they need to do??? Its not their war to begin with.

Now its time for them to worry about their own people... and the safety of their own people. Call it being scared or whatever... but I call it a wise move..

..and the terrorists learn that they can achieve political ends through terror. This is called appeasement and it does not work. Didn't work for the brits with hitler, definitely won't work here.

I remember negotiations and with the IRA in northern island were followed by more bombings from splinter groups (calling themsleve things like the "Real IRA").

There is no point negotiating with terrorists. As soon as one 'terrorist' leader starts negotiating, he/she is usually labelled as soft by another faction. this faction then resumes terror.

So basically its damned if you do and damned if you dont then , right? So if they dont pull out the troops they have tons more people getting blown up and if they do pull out they still are attacked just as badly? Maybe, but before this war there were bombs in Spain.. but moreso political and from ETA and not as often or as gruesome as these last ones. Its really hard to say... what to do but for Spain obviously they want to take the chance to save people... either way they did do their job in Iraq and supported the USA and now its finished. :2 cents:

torrey 04-18-2004 12:21 PM

Id say under the circumstances, it appears Spain is commiting an act of submission.

If anything Id have thought blowing up Spanish Civilians would be even more reason to stay and fight back.

The act of submission will bolster terrorist morale across the board, as well as establish Spain as an easy target. :2 cents:

SL|M! 04-18-2004 01:04 PM

He had to pullout since it was his political promise, basically thats why he got elected.

Roger 04-18-2004 01:13 PM

He got elected because of his opposition to the war in Iraq and because of his promise to remove troops from Iraq.

There's no reason for Spain to stay in Iraq and help one country take over another. It's downright criminal to do so. The other guy submitted to US blackmailing or threats or whatever but the new guy ain't a coward.

btw, didn't the US submit to Ben Laden's demands and pulled out from Saudi Arabia? :)

PMdave 04-18-2004 01:18 PM

Totally idiot move...
I'm 100% aginst the war started there, but spain choosed to enter this and puslling the troops now is the weakest thing to do!
Scared for more terror attcacks? Anyone with the slightest sign of brain activity could have figured out that they had it comming for going to war. But no they choose to enter this war and get rid of saddams regime! Very nobel goal but when you put a country in total chaos and don't atleast stay there untill things are cleared up for the local people you are nothing but plain cowards.

Spain has lost all credibilty with this move.
They lost it with the countries against the war when they entered the war and now they lose it with those countries that were pro war.

No it didn't, Spain was against it at like 90%. But the former president choose the path of war. Now there's a new president who was totally opposed to the war from the start. It's called democracy.

Just because the majority are against the war and blame the U.S. for the Madrid attacks not the terrorist doesn't mean its less idiotic.

Corleone 04-18-2004 01:30 PM

NO WMDs
NO Terrorists (Al Qaida is not it iraq )
NO More Oil ( the US has already stolen all the oil)

so why shall they stay in iraq? to save building the pipelines?:2 cents:

Hotwife 04-18-2004 01:31 PM

They're just a bunch of cowards. Didn't have the balls to finish the job. All this does is send a message to terrorists, "You're in control. Do what you want".

I guess that will be the same message we would eventually send if Kerry gets elected.

lol

To build a demoracy? Isn't that what bush tells you people these days? That 'installing a democraticcaly chosen gvernement' was the main reason the US went to war?

If all international troops left iraq now it will become what Bush believed it was under Saddam.

Deep down they know you're right but they're just pissed off for screwing up.

Ben Laden and his Saudi friends attacked the US, demanded that they remove there troops from Saudi Arabia and Bush obeyed.

Democracy is choosing a leader for a certain amount of time and putting them in charge of taking important descissions. Majority of people choose Aznar so Spain choosed to go to war. That's democracy!

Today's reason...

Tomorrow, who knows ...

But none were valid reasons.
