I outran a BMW with a Ford mondeo today LOL!

Hehe!
I was out testdriving different cars today and I went to Ford just to check out what they had in store.

I did not find anything I liked but on my way out I walked by the Ford mondeo ST 220.

This car have a V6 engine with 220HP.

The car looks like nothing special on the outside but it had a good engine and was pretty fast I must say for a kind of ordinary car.

I talked to the salesman and took it out for a drive.

I figured as I made it to the highway I needed someone to race so I cam up behind a BMW of some kind.

I am not sure what model but the kid in the car had ALL THAT if ya know what I mean ;)

I drove up along him and looked at him with a friendly face...I pushed the pedal a few times and made the engine spin a little.

The little punk stared at me and gave me the finger and pressed the pedal down trough the floor!!!

He took off and I did the same...

It did not take me long to catch up and stay aside him...
The face on him was worth a 10000 bucks!

I looked at him and gave HIM the finger and changed down a gear and stped on it and took off in a nice acceleration leaving the punk kid far behind.

Think he will tell his friends?

I will not buy hte car btw because it cost a little to much for the things ya get but it was a funny ride :)

:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

As you can see nothing special.

Is it your right to judge how other people live their lives?

strobi 03-28-2004 10:22 AM

Yep this baby can outbeat a new BMW all the way (the regular 3 series)..

The performance of this car is along the lines of the BMW 330i. Nice!

No need to.

I believe the salesman would have allowed you to take it for a test drive on your own or that he let you have a race in it while sitting next to you.

I also believe in Father Xmas and the tooth fairy.

Im sorry did you mean you cant do a test drive without having the salesman in the car?

In sweden I NEVER had a salesman in my car while test driving it.

NEVER!!

I think any swede on this board can tell you the same.

Huh? You are supposed to do test drives alone,no? Am I missing something? I've driven alot of cars by myself, straight out of the garage.... (without salesmen... they have better things to do than babysit you)

in the U.S. the salesman never gonna let you test drive the car alone... are you crazy? I would be test driving lambos and ferraris all day long :1orglaugh

CumSensei 03-28-2004 10:37 AM

Well guess things are different here in sweden then :)

I would never have a fucking salesman sitting next to me while driving a car I might buy.

for sure, never EVER seen a salesman go with someone on a test-drive.. a test drive can be anything from a spin around the town to having the car with you for a whole day.

shitty attitude at this board, someone tries to contribute with some fun-to-know (for some) facts and ya'll call him a lier.

get your facts straight before talking :321GFY

Yes salesmen allow people to drive away a high performace car all the time. They also give them their Credit Card to have lunch as well.

They are not babysitting the driver, they are babysitting the car. I would love to know nsurance company who writes that policy.

CorporalChaos 03-28-2004 11:02 AM

Wow, those of you that think salesmen have to go with you, or never let you out alone in the U.S, must look like scum or something. I'm not trying to talk shit but I'm only 26 and I just went and test drove all kinds of new cars. Only once did the salesdude even come with... and it was the shittiest car. Go test drive a BMW, its insulting for the salesman to come with.... they just wont do it.

I thought it drove off pretty ok.

But I think I can get a nicer car for that prize.

As the resident car expert on GFY I am all the way with Sensei on this one, I have had a go of the ST200 a few years ago and it is one wicked piece of kit, and knowing Sensie I'm sure he had the legs on the "finger" giving kiddie winkie.

Makes me laugh when these kiddies who so often go in a striaght line fast suddenly come to a "bend" in the road and wonder what they should do, uuuummm now that is a different thread.

I'll leave it at that.

:thumbsup

Well maybe because you live in Czech, and ppl only drive Skoda and lada there.

Anyway here in The Netherlands you can test drive HP cars as well without salesman.

In exchange you give your pasport to them, and then you can drive....

Last month I drove for example a WRX STi, and an Audi TT...

In the UK I was never accompanied either and "test drives", on half-way decent cars anyway, were often a day or two. I have had a Lexus and a Merc for a full week.

Still nothing like when I used to write about cars. Then I regularly got to drive all kinds of stuff for days at a time. Lots of good memories, with a Ford GT40 at the top of the list along with a very hairy few days driving around London in an Audi Quattro that was back from the Irish Rally the day before. Noisy as hell, covered in lamps, mud, stickers, roll cage, the lot... not exactly an inconspicuous ride.

Oh and when Ford brought out the sports variant of the Mondeo's predecessor - the Sierra XR4i it was called in Europe - they took a bunch of us to Sicily, gave us a hotel car park full of cars to choose from (including a Bugatti) and let us drive around the old Targa Florio course for a couple of days. That was something!

Maby a super tuned mini cooper LOL!

http://www.zcars.org.uk/

and

http://www.holeshotracing.co.uk

Z-cars will convert original Mini's from front engined, front wheel drive to rear engined, rear wheel drive using an assortment of motorbike engines. Holeshot Racing do a tuned, turbo'd Suzuki Hayabusa engine that'll fit. The result:

450hp in a 600kg Mini.
0 - 60mph in 3.3 seconds
1/4 mile in 11 seconds at 130mph
