Over $16,000 now in 2 months. Not bad for a $155 investment.

polish_aristocrat 03-25-2004 05:35 PM

I maybe played poker twice in my life :1orglaugh

Yeah, I usually stick to 5/10 when I play limit. Unless you get an amazing table 15/30 etc. doesn't return as much money because people fold when they should. I'll probably hop to no limit a little later.

I deposited $100 learning how to play and took it to 10k in a few months at the baby tables. If you want a good laugh go read some sites of people that "play for a living" online. It's hilarious! One guy had his win amounts for the month and it ranged from $300 to $1200. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Basic_man 03-25-2004 05:38 PM

Good for you :D

Are finding 15/30 to be the threshhold where people start playing more properly?

Dirty F 03-25-2004 05:39 PM

Where do you play?

marcj 03-25-2004 05:39 PM

I don't think I can play "professionally online". Perhaps in a few years though, when I get better at reading people and calculatting odds quicker then I'll go for professional poker at physical games. Internet play is just really fucking easy because 95% of the players on there suck, and watch too much of Rounders.

5/10 is almost always great where I play. They have 8/16, 10/20, and 15/30 also. You can find a good game on 8/16 and 10/20 usually but 15/30 is almost always the same and the hands cost too much for the return because of how the table plays.

And for everyone asking I play limit at Pacific Poker. Got an aff. link if you want it. :)

Nicky 03-25-2004 05:43 PM

nice dude, really nice :)

I find playing live even better than online except for the slower pace. (shuffle, etc.) You don't want to look like an idiot in front everyone. :winkwink:

Nicky 03-25-2004 05:46 PM

hey stocktrader, do you have any good advice to an amateur player like me when playing say 1/2 or 2/4 limited?:Graucho

Didn't read books. I did semi ok for a few days just on common sense and luck. Turning point was when I read some info online. Starting hand chart, odds of completing a hand after the flop, and a basic understanding of pot odds. Everything just clicked the instant I read those.
