Logo Contest: $200

Hey out there to all you famous designers...I am new to the board, so far and outmost hello to everyone out there! I am soon to be opening up my own business, more specifically a bubble tea store, and have been referred to this site with information that here is where all the creative and outstanding designers are. So I thought I would give it a nice shot and check out the talent. With that said, I am simply looking for a simple, catchy, and creative logo for a bubble tea store (a cafe, dessert place). The name of the store is called Bubble Cafe or BC for short. A log that will emphasize both would be wonderful. This logo could possibly be used as the store sign, on pamplets, on employee tshirts and on menus. So like other contests you've probably heard of, I am offering a $200 prize for the winner. The deadline that I am looking to aim at is one week from this posting, so March 31.
Can't wait to see what you got!!!
Ciao

hey suelynn, boba rocks! :thumbsup

but don't you think $200 for a logo for a full blown business is a little in the low end? i mean, it would be great for a new website or small business, but a boba shop? that's your company identity.. if you expand or franchise, the logo isn't changing. it's like the founder of starbucks asking for a logo design on gfy for $200.

besides, there's lots of money to be made from a bubble tea store - pay your designers well. :2 cents:

How can u compare a small business with starbucks? it's not even comparable. Also i don't think there are any differences between a business logo than a website logo, the designers uses the same tools to create such image.

And saying the fact that there is alot of money to be made in the bubble tea store has really nothing to do with it the logo contest plus I don't think she has made any money yet. Sometimes I think you guys just pull out excuses out of your ass just to make you think that you're worth something. It's a friggen contest... if you choose not too participate, then don't. :Kissmy

I DEF. agree with this statement, well stated PlayGirl....

these contests are almost getting humorous....if they just told a designer everything they wanted, they'd get a great logo in probably half the time....but instead, all of us take stabs in the dark until someone finally creates something fitting the taste of the contest starter. Seems like half of these contests are based on taste and not talent, but oh well,

a contest is a contest.....

NOT A CONTRACT (which a lot of people forget) :2 cents:

But in either case, GFY is a great median to preview some work and turn some heads :thumbsup

LOL - I knew someone would say that. But even Starbucks started off with a single location, and if their corporate identity came from a $200 logo contest I think it would earn a few well deserved snickers.

The designers may use the same tools, but the difference is in how the final product will be applied. Suelynn is aiming to use it for a brick and mortar business with the possibility of franchise. That means the logo would be used on everything from the front of the building to mugs and employee t-shirts etc. A website logo is simply used on a website (need I say more?)

Playgirl... if I get you to design me a paysite, at one point when you're designing my site, you think to yourself... oh this guy is going to make a killer with this site that i'm building for him, would you charge me more simply because you think a site will make more than you had intended that it would make? of course not, you're a designer, i'm paying for you to put together something... that's all you're doing, and with you saying that she will be making lots of money with her bubble tea store, that she should be generous with her designers and pay more (note that this is not even contract work, it's a contest) that's just insane!

Lace 03-25-2004 02:26 AM

FuckFind 03-25-2004 02:29 AM

Heres a quick one, but any certain colors? sizes? etc...

Elaborate a little more on what kind of design you would want.

logos are an intrical part of corporate branding. when you're talking about a logo that is going to represent a company and will be seen everywhere and identified AS YOUR COMPANY'S SYMBOL, you need to raise the bar and pay a designer a good amount of money.

i highly doubt Mcdonalds, burger king, etc.. got their logos for any less than 1500 bucks.

that is nice about these logo contests. if you're burnt out on the project you're doing, or you need to add to your portfolio you can always come to gfy for fresh material.

Yep, agree with ya there bud :thumbsup

Tell ya what tho...some contest rules should be implemented into GFY, these are getting more and more popular.

Ex. Must be a second place prize (increase entries and effort)
Ex. Whether a logo is selected from the contest or not, the thread starter must honor their contest so hours are not wasted (Unlike, to this point, this contest) Looks like a slew of individuals, including myself, worked with no award given.
Ex. Colors, style, additional info about logo must be in initial post of contest, once again, so people don't bark up the wrong tree and waste time, etc.

Something to standardize these or at least guide them in some way would be a nice little insurance factor for those putting time in, especially if taking time away from something else.

My :2 cents:

FF!:thumbsup

well if the person who is asking for logo knows how to run/start a buisness, he/she should've done some sort of servey to see what the market demands - looks, colors, etc. - unless he wants the designer to come up with it all, then its way worth more than these cheesy 200-300 dollars offered

lukapensa 03-25-2004 05:22 AM

Its the new trendy drink. Its like...a flavored drink with little, chewy tapioca balls in the bottom that you suck up through a huge straw. Its strange, I didnt like it too much the one time I tried it.
