ATLANTA, March 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- InterCept, Inc. ICPT, a leading provider of technology products and services for financial institutions, announced that it closed today the sale of its merchant services division, InterCept Payment Solutions (IPS). The sale was consummated via two separate transactions -- one for the sale of Internet Billing Company, LLC (iBill) and another for the sale of the remainder of the IPS business. The total sale price for both transactions was $53.5 million, which is $16.1 million more than the sale price stated in a letter of intent for the sale of IPS announced in February.

NetRodent 03-22-2004 11:22 PM

Don't be surprised if Penthouse starts spamming your members.

baaa - who cares. it would only be one of a hundred spams a day that came from someone at ibill that 'leaked' their client list to spammers

HS-Trixxxia 03-22-2004 11:26 PM

I'm actually very interested in your thoughts considering you use ibill for such a large percentage of your business.

Yes. Especially in light of Bob Guccione's comments in this article:

Interesting

KRL 03-22-2004 11:32 PM

Run don't walk.

Vitasoy 03-22-2004 11:32 PM

damn....

Shoplifter 03-22-2004 11:33 PM

It can't be good. I feel that one of the only reasons it weathered the whole IPSP thing was due to ICPT's clout with the banking industry.

Having it run by known pornographers may marginalize it, even though it always has been a porn outfit. It's out of the closet now.

The other thing is the dirt cheap price. Really it was just $700k and the assumption of the operational debt. WTF is up with that? I should have bought it just for kicks.

chowda 03-22-2004 11:34 PM

quiet man, u could have easily bought ibill and ran it urself

dominating no?

i don't think quiet was ibill's largest client. maybe top 10 - i'd think more like top 20.

Mutt 03-22-2004 11:36 PM

are you talking about Penthouse as in General Media, Bob Guccione etc?

they aren't even out of bankruptcy protection yet.

KRL is right ..... run don't walk.

General Media (the magazine publisher) filed for bankruptcy. Its parent company, Penthouse International, isn't in bankruptcy. Still cause for concern though.

thats true. but he can easily afford to buy ibill (if it was really 700k)

and looking at his paysite, he wont screw ppl over if he ran ibill.

my :2 cents:

HS-Trixxxia 03-22-2004 11:40 PM

From the perspective of a big affiliate program owner, I think it's not good for them for a competitor to have 1) a hold of their income 2) a hold of their client lists 3) a hold of their financial situation

From the perspective of an investor - it's shady - they filed for bankruptcy not too long ago with their own money - what will they do with mine

If I would be using them, I'd worry for those two reasons + if there were reasons for the government to seize the assets/funds of IBill incase there are discrepancies on the bankruptcy and what not...

Trax 03-22-2004 11:40 PM

i dont like that at all

And the small matter of 22 million in debt.

my :2 cents:

it's a big risk to assume, but from his rep on GFY alone tons would flock to ibill if quiet did buy it.

but why? -the same people would flock to him if he started a billing company from scratch. Why bother buying a sinking ship and assuming that debt.

let it go under, buy the scarps at rock bottom prices and start new with no debt.
