What's been your largest purchase in the last year?

Over the last year, what's the largest item you've purchased in terms of cash? I've been a pretty light spender but I'm about to drop around 280k on a home (I can't fucking wait!)... How about you?

KRosh 03-16-2004 12:49 AM

40G's on a New Car

and 300K+ on a new house

:helpme

Turboface 03-16-2004 12:50 AM

You're dropping $280k in cash on a house?!

My biggest cash purchase in the last year had to be my $500 digital camera.

:Oh crap

quiet 03-16-2004 12:51 AM

1 Mill on a condo in Whistler would be by far my biggest this last 12 months (no mortgage).

ElvisManson 03-16-2004 12:52 AM

biggest CASH purchase was my new 15In TiBook.

Didin't fucking pay cash for my condo...lol..interest rates are too low.

:glugglug

hova 03-16-2004 12:57 AM

I just supersized my McD's menu!!! And I bought a boat

shermo 03-16-2004 12:58 AM

Sorry.. I meant I'd be putting the down payment on a $280k home. It'd actually just be dropping around 30k. It's still the largest purchase I've ever made. :thumbsup

You're right ElvisManson... Rates are GREAT!

something about spending 280k in one purchase is just scarey.

Not really considering the RE market trends out here in Vegas. Resales on phase 1 of this community are selling at $310,000 already. This is the last phase and I'm praying that I get in. The home market out in Vegas is on the rise, yet it's a pain in the ass getting top placement on reservation lists. There's a VERY high demand out here. :thumbsup

Mr. Marks 03-16-2004 01:13 AM

I just wish I can spend as much as you guys do. I'm still saving up and haven't really been buying anything in the past year. I'll probably spend for a trip soon.

nope. jealous that you have nothing, and spend your days lurking this message board for the slightest inconsistency.

you are a joke. want to compare stats? want to compare bank accounts? want to compare anything that would indicate success?

nope. you are someone who lives in the parent's basement. at best making a little beer money. end of story.

if you had half of single ball, you wouldn't be trying to conceal your identity. hehe.

venus 03-16-2004 01:50 AM

well since I just sold my house for a $100,000 profit, I just paid cash for a new Horse ($10,500), building a new barn at my new house ($19,000), and the fence to go around the property ($13,000)

I only put 20% down on the house.

I cant see the property in vegas going up any more then it is. Its already at insane prices for this area.
My house sold 12 hours after it was listed - to a california investor, sight unseen.
Lived in it 2 years and made a $100,000 profit.

The prices in vegas is why I am moving to phoenix.

Biggest purchase last year wa sour house, paid cash for it. No need to worry about interest rates.

This year I guess it was our holiday in Thailand. $5-6K all in I think.

flashfire 03-16-2004 02:44 AM

new house...not saying how much:)

Amputate Your Head 03-16-2004 02:47 AM

biggest purchases within the last 12 months would be $780k on my house, $45k for new truck. Biggest purchase all cash out in one shot goes to "accountant fees": $2100. If that doesn't qualify as a purchase, then next in line is...

Vegas convention (plane ticket & room): $2000
Notebook: $1800
Bed: $1800
Fridge: $1800
Washer & Dryer: $1600

I can see the trend shifting to luxury condos. People want properties that serve as vacation homes, or that don't need personal maintanance. Since I'm not a family man yet, I'm planning on grabbing one of these properties in an ideal location. I believe Vegas will keep growing for the next couple of years until it tops off like it has in LA. It has to, to stop these investors from stealing all of the homes that families want to buy. It's pretty bad when you have a list of 400 people fighting for 30 homes. :2 cents:

liquidblue33 03-16-2004 03:59 AM

I spent $3.49 on a 40 oz bottle of St. Ides malt liquer.
Top that beathces.

Sarah_Jayne 03-16-2004 04:33 AM

I don't spend loads even when I have some stored away. Biggest one time spend since the new year was a new 'American style fridge'. Doesn't sound like much but those side by side door fridge/freezers are still fairly new over here and pretty pricy.
