its THAT good... if you don't think it that good you probebly didn't understand it... and if you will say that there is nothing to understand than you will prove your ignorance.

Lord Helpus 03-11-2004 03:39 PM

Just saw it recently too...Thought both the girls were excellent, especially the blonde. Hard role to do well and she was really convincing.

axelcat 03-11-2004 03:40 PM

Im gonna take your advice and rent it

nah will do later today though... how old is she?

Lord Helpus 03-11-2004 04:04 PM

Don't remember how old she was, I am thinking 15 or so. Definitely not legal yet...

tayloryum 03-11-2004 04:32 PM

it was a good movie, but very intense. not a "feel good" flick that i'd want to watch over and over again. kinda movie that makes me glad i don't have kids (especially daughters).

C_U_Next_Tuesday 03-11-2004 04:35 PM

I didnt get to see the whole movie.. I fell asleep.. maybe I will give it another try.

Good movie I seen last night was "dragonfly" w/ Kevin Costner..

Nikki Reed (Evie) is 16, but was 15 at that time.

The script which was written by Reed and the director, is a partially autobiographical film about Reed's rebelious life as a thirteen year old.

One of the best movies of 2003 IMHO, and that's from someone who just saw Mystic River today. I'm not saying it's better, it's different. IMO Evan Rachel Wood (Tracy) should have gotten nominated for an Oscar. She was very good, especially for her age (15/16 at the time of making the movie).

Honestly, the Christina Aguilera's and Britney Spears' of the world are directly to blame for these 13yo girls whoring themselves out nowdays.

Back in the day (late 80's early 90's) I always thought it was absurd when pop culture was to blame for outrageous teen behavior. But back then, they were blaming hard rock, or metal music for causing kids to commit suicide -- which was just incredibly uneducated of the political figures of the day. Look at those kid's family lives... and I'm sure the root of the problem would be found right there, not the music they were listening to.

But you have to admit, modern day pop culture glorifies the "slut" factor in a major way. So when 12 & 13yo girls are buying up these CD's and magazines by the dozen, of course they're going to want to emulate their favorite stars.

It's pretty sad actually when you think about it... it's all about the shock factor, and which one can out-do the next to get their pimped out 12,000 sq foot house featured on MTV cribs first. A sad state of affairs indeed...

reynold 03-11-2004 05:33 PM

Good movie! I think I'm gonna watch it again.

hova 03-11-2004 05:34 PM

Its ok, not that good. I watched Mystic River for the 2nd time today, now thats a good movie!

Vitasoy 03-11-2004 05:35 PM

I seen this flick recently too, and I agree it's pretty good... btw the 13yr girl who framed the other girl at the end, help write the story.

You're obviously missing the point man. I mean shit, none of us on this board are saints by any means... we push porn for a living :) But that's not what's at question here.

I'm talking direct influence to girls of that age bracket. You certainly didn't see them wearing low-rise jeans and thongs riding up their back 10yrs ago. One is silly to think it's not the direct result of what they see plastered all over their TV screens.

everyone has their own brain and can make their own decisions...
there are a fuckload of movies where everyone kills everyone... I watched them when I was 12 and never run around killing everyone...

boris77 03-11-2004 05:52 PM

Much better than that lame movie ...THE DREAMERS!!! :throwup :fart

I totally agree with that. I'm just saying kids at that age are very impressionable, and at that age the ones they more or less idolize are the pop stars. I would hope they wouldn't pick up a samaurai sword and try to mimic Uma Therman :1orglaugh

Didn't understand it?! LOL

Wooooooooohh.. So you're the "What if" time travel movie expert now?! HAHAHAH!!!!

That movie had great potential.

But it turned into a lame dark, laughable "Bedazzled".

SetTheWorldonFire 03-11-2004 06:13 PM

good movie! :thumbsup

I couldn't agree with you more.

dunefield 03-11-2004 07:51 PM

I agree with you... I think Thirteen is a good film... Teenagers can relate to it because the issues in that movie are realistic... Rather than just say a movie like 'Kids' which just uses shock value to grab an audience...

I just wished when i was 13 girls wore hipster jeans like that :(
