selling gold jewelry (pics)

I'm selling these gold peices for my mom, she wanted me to put them on ebay, but I thought you guys might like to see them first.

I'm going to take offers on them until March 10th 2pm pacific time

There are some nice peices here, if you have questions post them up. I don't know the exact size of the rings, I would guess they're a 6 going by my own ring size

Funny you say that, you look like the guy at Walmart yesterday that was getting arrested for breaking into one of those 25 cent machines.

I'll give you a few figures to work on spunky1

14K gold is at about $188 oz. the scap value on this braclet is about $115

of course on a nice piece like this I should be able to get a little more than scrap value.

If I don't get any reasonable offers before the tenth, then it's off to ebay

Chris 03-07-2004 04:33 PM

take it to ebay now

lol .... shit looks mad dirty

should of taken it to the jewlers to get cleaned b efore posting

graphicsbytia 03-07-2004 04:35 PM

I usually sell antiques and am in the habit of never cleaning things beforehand.. I let the buyers do that. In the case of the garnet rings, some people like the patina, most don't.. I let them decide for themselves on that.

and btw.. you don't need to take jewelry to the jewelers to be cleaned, it can be done easily by soaking it in ammonia and a little mild soap ;)

pimplink 03-07-2004 06:21 PM

I don't wear gold....

Funbrunette 03-07-2004 06:23 PM

Does she even know you took the jewelry? :Graucho

Spunky 03-07-2004 06:28 PM

So I guess you want around 300 for the bracelet then?

I'll consider less than that, make me a fair offer

digifan 03-07-2004 08:12 PM

I'll tell you.. it's one of those cases where .. she knows I know how to sell things online.. she doesn't know how, so when she or anyone in my family wants to sell something.. guess who they call? .. I should have done what I did when I worked for this kitchen design place.. they asked me after working there for about 2 weeks if I knew how to type.. I told them no.. l wasn't born yesterday.. lol

aflex 03-07-2004 09:31 PM

the stones look like horrible quality and most of it is 10kt gold.. at best you'll get scrap value for those pieces.. the bracelet could have some value to a dealer, but thats about it..

are you a jeweler aflex? and the rings are not mostly 10K two are 10K and two are 14K. In my opinion the sapphire is the best one, and I do know what rings sell for, I've been selling new and old jewelry for the last 15 yrs, but I thank you for your opinion ;)

aflex 03-07-2004 09:42 PM

i'm an apprentice for an independent jeweler in NJ, i do business on 47th weekly, i see what you have for offer sitting at the refinery for scrap..

15 years should be enough for you to understand that your values of jewelry like that are much higher (being from Tennessee and all) then its value in my area.. there is no market for that stuff here, therefore it would be scrap, the charm bracelet would have value to a dealer at shows.

Mr. Marks 03-07-2004 09:45 PM

nice jewelries. Must've cost a fortune.

Well let me enlighten you to a couple of things then aflex... for one thing.. I set no values on these pieces, and if you read my first post you would have seen that.. and for another, there is a market for this type of thing in my experience, I know because I've bought and sold a lot of it. Thirdly, the braclet is not a charm braclet, do you see any charms on it?

I don't know why you feel the need to come onto this thread and be disagreeable with me, I really just don't understand that at all.

Since you are an apprentice, I suggest you talk less and listen more and you may find yourself actually learning something

aflex 03-07-2004 09:53 PM

haha, this is why you sell on ebay. step in the real world, your shit is garbage. and that type of bracelet is used as a charm bracelet for old ladies.

they have their cute lil loops set onto the cute lil loops on your charm bracelet. i've sold many used pieces like that bracelet of yours, the charms that were on those have alot of value on the secondary market.

where is all this anger coming from aflex? I just don't get it

aflex 03-07-2004 09:56 PM

no anger, i just dont get why people always believe their jewelry is worth more then it really is. i understand you are the middleman for your mom's jewelry, but dont get her hopes up on banking from the pieces.

no anger huh? you'd better look again..

and I haven't set any prices on the jewelry at all.. so I don't know what makes you think I have "high hopes" as you put it of selling it for more than it's worth..

what's with you anyway?
