Pic of the First Phone Sex Server
http://www.internetmanagementservice.../oldoffice.jpg
Found this pic today. Wow 18 years ago! There were only 100 900 numbers allocated for the entire US. We had 2 of them. To the far right, an original IBM PC running DOS with the first digital audio cards developed for the new audiotext industry. All the recorded phone sex fantasy messages were stored on the IBM PC then sent digitally to AT&T's NOC through the black boxes to the right of the PC, and then they were broadcast on AT&T's nationwide 900 pay-per-call network. :glugglug |
cool !

Where's the mouse? lol
|
Were you one of the "operators"?

The mouse was invented by Doug Engelbart. Apple paid $40,000 for the license to the patent. That was one of Steve Jobs coups for apple. http://www.superkids.com/aweb/pages/...mouse/doug.jpg |

Despite how basic it was, it did the job perfectly, handling about 2-3 million minutes a month without a glitch. |

How small were these recorded messages that they fit on a 10 meg HD? And if I understand correctly, people called the 1-900 #, paid $X amount per minute and only listened to a recording? Man, some people are hard up! |
You gotta love the 70s/80s style of office furniture :thumbsup
|
nice

its amazing to see that and think of the difference between my experience with computers growing up and what my daughter is experiencing now and has to look forward to.. today's computers will no doubt seem antique to her when she's my age..

Awesome!
The last few weeks I saw a few TV ads, got spams and exit consoles promoting phone sex with regular cellphone numbers. I wonder how it works and how much they get per minute from the telecom. There's also this site with HOT models posing non-naked (it turns me on, way better than porn) and with the cellphone numbers to hear something from the model. |
Cool pic
Its amazing how far computers and sex have come. |
Boy you must be fucking old lol.
|
I didn't even knew a digital soundcard existed way back. How mutch did you pay for a setup like that? I payed almost 2000$ for 1 pc AT way back with a 10 mb HD:helpme

You are most likely holding prior art for many IVR/telephone patents. :) Fight the P to the A to the T to the E to the N to the T! |
