I seen / I saw

From a title of a thread: "I seen Justin Timberlake in Concert last night!!! "

http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...hreadid=221860

Do the people who use the phrase "I SEEN" really not know how ridiculous it sounds?

I saw Justin Timberlake in concert last night.
Did you see Justin Timberlake in concert last night?
Have you seen Justin Timberlake in concert?

People saying "I SEEN" is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Am I alone on this one?

polish_aristocrat 01-17-2004 04:24 AM

same here, I also noticed that yesterday :winkwink:

CDSmith 01-17-2004 04:34 AM

Justin Timberflake is a fag. And YOU're a raging anti-dentite!

SUPPOSABLY, people do it frequently. EXPECIALLY online.

mrthumbs 01-17-2004 05:00 AM

i hate people that type lines like "im better then you, admit it"

I make the most fucked up moron typos while unleashing my fury on this board but people that are consistent with their
then/than fuckups in combination with an attitude (choker
is a great example) annoys the fuck out of me.

Ash@phpFX 01-17-2004 05:23 AM

i agree. "i seen" sounds like the person didnt go to school :helpme

If a started a new thread for every time someone used improper english in this forum i would never be finished.

This isnt english class, its a FORUM get over it.

If it makes the topic unreadable or impossible to understand or just funny then by all means flame away.

You're right, It's a FORUM...

I'll start threads about poor grammar whenever I want. YOU GET OVER IT.

BTW, you forgot your apostrophe in "isn't".

AdultNex 01-17-2004 05:53 AM

Yeah, it pains me everytime it sounds like people didn't pass English in high school.

It's GFY, so we better get used to it.

KC 01-17-2004 05:53 AM

My English is far from perfect, but at least I'll be able to get a job at a McDonald's drive-thru unlike some webmasters on this board! ;)

I SEEN THEM BE HIRIN'!

People talk that way because nobody bothered to tell them it was incorrect. Maybe people should start correcting others when they speak with broken or improper English.

I appreciate it when someone points out grammar/spelling errors I make!

Chris E 01-17-2004 05:58 AM

And i will reply whenever and however i want :) Its nice how that works isnt it.

BTW i searched through your last 50 posts and you have made COUNTLESS errors , go look for yourself.

Bad grammar, Typos, Bad spelling etc etc

Carrie 01-17-2004 06:07 AM

Drives me crazy too.
Along with...

sponser (sponsor)
whinging (whining) - everytime I read this I picture someone flapping their arms around like they've got wings

Not to mention the entire concept of when and how to use apostrophes is lost on these people.
it's/its
your/you're
etc. etc.

There are hundreds of them but thankfully I can't remember of the ones that really annoy me right now. I'd just get more annoyed if I could.

Smokey The Bear  01-17-2004 06:08 AM

I also looked through Lensman's last 50 posts and found about the same amount of errors.

If i was writing an official email i would watch what i say , but as this is a forum not grade school, i dont check everything i say.

I already admitted that my English is far from perfect. However, I've never posted "I seen", aside from this thread.

I'm talking about more than just typos, I'm talking about ignorance.
