The "Patent This" auction. (Pics)
So this is the first step to getting the auction site up and running. All the proceeds, less what the CC processors take will go to Acacia. We will keep records which will be viewable on the net to everyone, except the name of the buyer and the donator if they wish to remain anonymous.
The first item will be a special offer from our Bargain Basement Content Store site. 25 sets for normally $200. For the auction I will take the highest bid in the next 24 hours http://www.paulmarkham.com/sets/0027/cat.jpg ICQ ME HERE TO REGISTER A BID and bounce the thread. So I promised you some pics, here is what you could be getting. http://www.paulmarkham.com/sets/0947/cat.jpg http://www.paulmarkham.com/sets/1098/cat.jpg |
Whoops I cocked up. The first sentance should read
"So this is the first step to getting the auction site up and running. All the proceeds, less what the CC processors take will go to the defence fund of those opposing Acacia in court." NO MONEY WILL GO TO ACACIA. I know I'm dumb, no need to tell me. |
you BONEHEAD! ha ha
For the morons.... repeat: NO MONEY WILL GO TO ACACIA. Fine start on the plan Paul. btw, if someone wants to put up a service or an item in order to raise proceeds to help the IMPA fight Acacia.... I'm sure this is a good time to do so. |
Wasn't it planed to set up a little page with the auction, Paul?
|
Thanks CD
Yes I hit the submit button too fast, any mods out there want to help me alter it? People who want to offer items to auction can ICQ me. On the site will be a box to email me offers. Just hoping this thing works. Need to get supplies to the guys in the trenches. :) |

Nice idea. Is $200 a starting bid or what ? I will throw in a 3-month Clickmojo VIP membership to the auction winner too, if you want to include it.

Any items will be gratefully accepted, if this rolls it will bring in the money needed to defend us against predators. Items will be on the new site which I hope to get up by Friday of next week, so ICQ me with your item please. This is just to get the ball rolling and the message out there. |

If you're going to donated to the auction try to make it something good, or even a few items but anything which can bring in a few bucks would be welcomed!! And if you're going to bid, know that the money isnt going into _our_ pockets, instead it will be used to help protect people such as yourself from assholes trying to steal your money or shut you down! For this auction, HostedContent.com will donate the following: 5 Auction winners will receive 100GB usage on our plugin. The winners will have a special type of account which will never expire until the 100GB is used up. So if you use lets say 10GB/month you'll have our plugin on your website for 10months! Once the 100GB expires, if you choose to keep the feeds we will give you a reduced cost on the plugin because of your donation to the defense fund. It is up to charly to auction off these prizes & set the opening bid on them, so you need to contact him! (or wait till the site is up!) |
"why ru donating 2 acacia????"
Ok, ldinternet is now donating $50:winkwink: |
We have to work hard at this if we want to have jobs in the future that we control and not controlled by a bunch of lawyers with patents.
If Acacia are not put down with an mighty slam so other companies waiting in the wings are not shown clearly this is not a business to be messed with, we will lose eventually. The patent legal game is simple, Acacia can lose this in court but win in the boardrooms. If they pick up $1,000,000 in licenses and spend $500,000 defending they made a half a million profit from a piece of bullshit. What warning bells does that send to the next in line, or Acacia not to come back with another patent that will be invalidated? It teaches them they can make money out of us. They will also think, how many times will the weak and spineless cave in to pay us and how many times can the strong afford or have the stomach to fight? You want to be doing this all again next year and the year after? |
We just had our first bid. At the moment a bid of $20 is going to take away $200 worht of content, should have made it a raffle.
But $20 is only the start. |

I bid $50 for the content.
next. |
Thanks, CD Smith
The highest is now standing at $120. And I made a decision that ALL bids above a certain price will get the content. Just not telling you how much that is. :) The auction ends Sunday mid day EU time, so time to get one in. |
Two hundred bucks worth of content for $120 is a steal. Even at one-fiddy, hey, it's Paul Markam content! C'mon now.
If I really needed content I would up that bid. |
Make that $130 from a Lady.
Do I hear $140 for this lovely item, lovingly cared for by a grandmother and only used on a Sunday to take her to church? |

So, if they select 25 sets at $15 it's a lot more than that?

bjs24, ICQ me your bid and you could be in for a surprise. The main thing is the fund could break the $1,000 mark on it's first day. Nothing else to say than that is fucking marvelous. Also learn a lot about how it needs to be run. For instance, do we have a blind auction or one where we can see the top bid? |
HighRoller will do $205
|
$250
|
I'll throw in a free -bump-
|
Boy, some HighRoller... $205 and a bump.... is that it? :Graucho
|
Will have to update my records. :)
|
Ouch I hit a -bump-
|
I decided the top 5 bids will recieve the content, the top bid will get 50 sets.
