Amazing all the rumors that companies actually do shave are true.

Have you contacted the smoking gun yet on this?

This might even make 60 minutes!

Let me tell you a secret. There are more scammy webmasters than there are scammy sponsors.

shitstain 11-05-2003 12:16 AM

I wonder what other popular affiliate softwares have a shaving feature built in

from what I understand, MPA does not have one built in as a standard, but it is a optional ad on, right?

nosey 11-05-2003 12:34 AM

wowsers :warning

Theo 11-05-2003 12:37 AM

i promote most of the sponsors out there and i have never seen an affiliate stats page looking anything similar to it. It must be a new script or rarely used. Someone should mail them asking for sponsor testimonials hehe

lol i missed this option

Jon 11-05-2003 12:44 AM

Don't act all surprised, and don't blame this software company either. It's been happening since the pay per click days of adult webmastering. Most sponsors have custom scripts to do it that are probably light years advanced than this one, to try and fool the affiliates into thinking there isn't a shave going on. But sponsors have to shave to keep up with offering high payouts and still being able to cover all of their bills and profit margins. Deal with it.

Why 11-05-2003 12:47 AM

software only shaves when the people that are running it tell it to.

a shave could be good in some circumstances. example: a sponsor gives free BP hosting, but at a cost of 10% of your sales? bad example maybe but what the fuck? there is good in everything.

wow an option to turn your business into a federal crime business, the people that made the stats program is dumb for doing that.. that can be a major lawsuit, shaving commisions from your employe's is like a federal crime i think

Not unless you catch them red handed shaving it off. All they have to show is that the shave has a legal function

gleem 11-05-2003 01:18 AM

LOL, we are not employees, we would be at best freelance or subcontractors.

How many of you would quit using your favorite sponsor cause someone posted a screenshot like that of their control panel?

Everyone knows there's always some shaving in play, it's something you need to accept, and move on. The bottom line is who makes you the most per click you send to them. IF sponsor A makes you 6 cents a click and sponsor B makes you 3 cents a click but you find out Sponsor A is shaving 10%, you gonna switch to sponsor B? Cmon.. :2 cents:

BlueDesignStudios 11-05-2003 01:39 AM

This is quite simple.

We don't jack around webmasters traffic.

I don't know about you.. But when I send traffic to someone, I would like to know exactly what I'm sending. Instead I have to investigate and wondering where the click is being counted. (if at all)

But if you had a 20k+ investment in your backend just to have the most honest and respectiable webmaster ad tracking in the biz like I do.. Then Hell Yeah!, I'm going to mention it every chance I get.

PD webmasters know that the traffic / sales they send I 100% accounted for.

SomeCreep 11-05-2003 01:46 AM

Very bad ethics including a "shave" feature

ServerGenius 11-05-2003 02:32 AM

Nothing new....almost each and every affiliate software comes
either default or as plugin with somekind of shave system.
The simple reason why is because webmasters want this in a
system when they buy it. It's a cold hard fact. I've looked at quite
a few different programs before I bought mine and I have not
come accross 1 that does not already has this feature standard
built in or is available as an extra option.

Developers don't come up with this shit. It's webmasters who
require these features else they won't buy their system. So be
wary of ANY webmaster that claims otherwise. Most systems have
the feature it's up to the program owner wether they use it or not
