Anyone from Montreal get a letter from Acacia?
 

I just got mine today, and I thinking of consulting a lawyer about it. Anyone from Montreal liked to join in?

I pretty much stay " in house" and anonymous, but keep us posted. Can still help even without a letter...

I don't do videos also, I've got a few TGP (no MGP) and lots of feeders with no videos!

yes but keep in mind that if your sponsor has videos or you trade with a site that links to video galleries, acacia considers you contributing to patent infringement.

my partner in montreal got one yesterday, btw.

Cool I'll wait a week or two. I was thinking of going after Acacia for harassment or extorsion.

Hey im from Montreal too and havent recieved anything, BUT i did hear that domains that are behind proxies usually are more safe, and maybe this is why? Is it true?

Did I do wrong or say something funny?

I don't think it has to do with domains being behind proxies. If your name is listed on Matrix Content (I presume), then you should get a Letter from Acacia.

They don't own a patent in Canada...

I heard someone mention law 101.... since we're in Quebec, I believe by law they are obligated to translate anything in French, right?

also, how do we defend about the fact they have no pattent in Canada?

If there is no patent in canada why Platinumbucks (Ontario) bought a liscence?

What court are they trying to fight Canadian judgements in?
Since our laws are different in Canada, I wonder what we could take them to court for and also since Quebec has a differant court system, what their recourse can be.

Got mine today, and a check from epoch for a video paysite I promote. How ironic.

I think quiet must have some 'US presence' of some 'Grade 'A' researcher' read GFY and figured going after him would give him a Christmas bonus.

As expected, we got ours today. Those fuckers sent it to my domain name - which I'm fucking pissed for cuz the mailman now knows what type of business we're in (or maybe someone else got it and now knows) Called the lawyer....I'm seeing him monday - if I'm lucky he'll stop by tomorrow.

The other thing I'd like to know is if there are laws against mail spam - the law 101 is also a good point - they'll have to pay their lawyers extra bucks to translate every letter & action they take.

Anyhow...will give you feedback as soon as I get it.

i dont think law 101 has anything to do with this. What you received is just an acacia sales letter. No legal paper.

Sure it does. In Quebec you need to get the permission to the sender before sending him an English only document (and it be stated in the document in the you resuested it in English), or much include a French of it (and not just a brief summary of the English version).

We can disregard their mail since we only understand legal documents in french.

We've gotten several of their "sales pitches". So far no actual legal documents.

He processes in the UK and resides in Canada. Might have hosting in the US but that's about it. With minimal presence in the US, they don't have many legal options to come after him in my opinion, but I'm not a lawyer so who knows...

Never been a customer of Matrix nor used my info at AVN expo's and they still got my info. And none of my domains have my direct mailing address so it sounds like their researchers aren't that bad.
