Anti Davis
Ok seen a few hundred if not thousand threads on this and why you should allow a moron into office.
So spill it here. I want real facts of real things Davis did. You want some new guy to get in. You do not mind turning CA into a constant campaign state. You are ok with less people firing our leader than people who went out and put him into office in the first place. Many of which were not even registered to vote until a minute before they signed the recall letter. So come on, facts. Lets see what ya got? |
Seems like a pretty shitty situation to me. The guy won an election just a year ago, then somebody decides they want a recall? Where were they to vote the first time around?
Seems like this sets a really bad precedence... I don't think people realize how ridiculous this really looks. |
Sly the recall is constitutional in theory (state). Fucked up though that you can be elected by the majority of people who actually voted. Then fired by twelve percent of that number who are lied to or harrassed at a local fair or supermarket to register and sign the recall.
Shhh!!! nobody say who funded the recall effort nor when it first started. |
OK, OK! This is the last time I will post this. :-)
CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION ARTICLE 2 VOTING, INITIATIVE AND REFERENDUM, AND RECALL SEC. 14. (a) Recall of a state officer is initiated by delivering to the Secretary of State a petition alleging reason for recall. Sufficiency of reason is not reviewable. Proponents have 160 days to file signed petitions. (b) A petition to recall a statewide officer must be signed by electors equal in number to 12 percent of the last vote for the office, with signatures from each of 5 counties equal in number to 1 percent of the last vote for the office in the county. Signatures to recall Senators, members of the Assembly, members of the Board of Equalization, and judges of courts of appeal and trial courts must equal in number 20 percent of the last vote for the office. (c) The Secretary of State shall maintain a continuous count of the signatures certified to that office. The "precedent" was set a over 100 years ago, actually! |
Nobody is questioning the states constitution sperbonzo, I am very aware of it and all parties acknowledge it. Despite it being a 100 year old law that was never used in real life.

Just cause the cops charge ya with spitting on sunday, and they drop the case, does not mean the law has been tested yet. |

Davis has taken the hit because he was at the helm when the shit came down...and is blamed for his lack of action, or his actions, rightfully, or wrongfully, depending upon ones viewpoint. |

Still where are all the pro whomever, Davis haters? |
don't expect to see them, they have no facts. You should request that only people from CA participate however, as I know I could care less the opinion of someone from OR, FL or Canada,
|
Wow. This thread actually gives me a shred of hope.

I thought so, not a single one eh.

Gray Davis has cut school funding when government waste should be cut first.
This weekend while at the local bi-yearly flea market , my daughter's HIGH SCHOOL CAREER CENTER was selling at the fleamarket for FUNDING to keep it open. I have to PAY to go to my daughter's MUSIC concerts because of funding cuts. |

Actually, I lived in SoCal for over 12 years, but hey....the important thing here is that you're not bitter about it!!!:1orglaugh |
I'll step in with a few things here...Gray Davis' platform was based on not raising taxes. Davis lied about the magnitude of california's deficit problems. When the truth was finally known about the problem, his response was that in the extreme crisis taxes would have to be raised aggressively to battle it (that's the democrat way). Don't you remember some of the email and internet taxes that were being proposed by him???? Do you realize how much commercial space is taxed in california? California has some of the highest taxes were business is concerned...that drove businesses out of Ca. I will admit that pete wilson did a number on the energy thing, but davis didn't do shit to stop it and I wouldn't be surprised if he benefited from it either.
Additionally, and this is just an example...I'm not necessarily for arnold to early to tell...but Arnie made off his most recent movie roughly the same amount of money that davis spent on his campaign...I know where arnie gets his cash...what about davis? Its hard to objectively solve the problems of a battered state when you've got to repay campaign contributuions through your legislative actions. Also, bustamonte is now funneling non profit funds into his campaign...do a little research on the take Davis has regarding workers comp. I'm not a party politics guy...demo or repub...I can't align with one...but I think the bulk of cali's problems are financial...I want warren buffet in there to get some shit done...if that man can't be trusted to get our money on track no one can... McClintCock is on track on the issues he has a solid campaign, but he's too conservative for me...the fact that he's running is a shame because a vote for him is basically a vote for bustamante, which will fuck us for sure...gray/bustamante want to regulate the price of gas in CA...do you realize what that could do? In a free market the laws of supply and demand rule and equate everything...if we get regulated we won't pay higher than x amount for our gas...although since no one will sell it to us anyway we won't have to worry about that...their ideas are cock eyed. If Bustamante takes it we're fucked for sure... At least Buffet comes in the Schwarzenegger package... |

As far as what he said the state of the financial situation was when he was running, he was going on what the state treasurer said, |

To other poster. As for schools why do you not ask the state congress where all the lottery money is, thats why we passed it isnt it? |
Davis took over with a budget surplus...increased spending outrageously...and now there's no more money...and now he proposes taxes as an answer?
I will bet anyone here that if arnold is elected and there is a third party audit of the states books...there are major scandals unveiled. |

Davis tried to get federal help and price caps on the energy raping. Mr. Bush said nope. Funny how he wants to help those other states with grid issues now eh? Arnie is also meeting with lobyists ect. Said he wouldnt, no special interests ect. |

Any third party audit would just cost the state shit loads and would find what everyone knows. Everyone is crooked. |

"With a budget shortfall that could surpass $30 billion, Davis recently proposed a 2003-2004 budget that includes one of the deepest education cuts in the state's history -- a $5.2 billion reduction in K-12 funding over the next 18 months. So if Davis has nothing to do with California's spending, would you care to discuss prop 187? It was a long time ago I know...
Prop 187 which proposed to stop giving tax payer money to public health services and education for illegal immagrants...it was passed by 5 million voters...59%. Care to take that one...do you have any idea what Davis did there? Let me enlighten you...Davis and a single Judge overturned that decision...1999...not a single voter got to say anything about that...much less the 5 million that passed it in the first place. Remember that one? Convieniently forget? I think that money would've helped alot of children get a decent edication. If someone wants to immigrate to to california, which has the highest percentage of illegal immigrants, I have no problem. Let them follow the laws that were set forth, and get themselves in line to be taxed like the rest of us. |

This whole energy thing, being blamed on Davis is nuts. He tried to get the feds involved, but since Enron is (was) based out of TX, it is easy to see why Bush told us to dump our strict environmental laws, or build plants in fucking Mexico. Of course, he did suggest we go back to coal also. |

I am not bitching about energy. Education is my bitch about Davis.
Ummm.. Anyone know off the top of their head who was in office when driver's training was stopped at the schools |
