Comparing two things doesn't mean they're the same, let alone exactly the same. In fact, you can compare two completely different things. One could argue that there are similarities between Bush and Hitler. Nobody is saying they're exactly the same. You're an idiot.

The whole idea that America is immediately heading down the path of Nazi Germany or is it "Soviet Russia" or is it "the fall of Rome" is predicated on nothing more than wishful thinking and/or fear.

The idea that everyone can see it happen but Americans themselves is incredibly naive. One comes to such opinions not through some unique or brilliant analysis but rather by repeating the views of one's neighbors.

It should be obvious but the same people that think comparing Saddam or KIM Chong-il or whomever else is the "Evil Dictator of the Moment" to Hitler is not credible make an even more outrageous claim in comparing Bush to Hitler. It's not actually my opinion that they're the same. I'm just saying that the comparison can be made, and that if you take particular bits of information, there are similarities. There are probably similarites between george bush and your average joe blow walking around downtown, though. They can compare all they want.

Sure, you can find comparisons between any two leaders on this earth. The simple fact that they are leaders will lead to much in common no matter how different the actual circumstances on. Any leader of a country with socialized medicine could be compared to Stalin, for example.

Well, of course that's not what i'm saying. People are going to compare one person to another for a whole range of reasons. Comparing people that have a different way of doing something to eachother, and the results of those methods. They're going to compare people that do similar things, and how the results differed still. It could quite easily be argued that the patriot act is being used to strip freedom very much like the Nuremberg laws of 1933. And there are similarities. No. i'm not saying they're the exactly the same, or even the same. But there are <i>similarities</i>.
