but nothing appears outa nowhere in this world. they amalgamated a bunch of marketing concepts into a winning idea.

It depends on your definition of Reality. I would say that Sweetloads, Debs, etc. were doing GONZO content first. But, BangBus.com was the first we noticed with a reality theme. There is a difference.

Roger V from pornkings had a site called therealworld.com in 97-98

It was a live reality site that got press in the news,TV etc. thats my guess for first reality site.

Unless someone can prove me wrong I have to insist that we were the Pioneers of Reality Porn. Our first releas was in 1981, can anyone go earlier than that. Plus we have been nominated for 13 AVN awards and we have won 4 times...thats more than anyone else in that category...and yes thats more than Ed Powers (a good friend of GM Video) So just to set the record straight GM Video were the first ones on the reality porn set.

i'd have to concur... bangbus was just a kinda stupid gimmick, as far as early hardcore reality media i'd definitely point towards dirty debutantes as well..

As much as I like Steve Sweet I havent ever sold him any of my content. Matter of fact Ive never released any of my content in the 10 years Ive spent shooting and filming it.

Im not sure what happened...nor is maxcash but that was quite short lived.

We are freinds with Ed and I have to tell you we were doing reality porn way before he started the Dirty Debs...but just a little more trivia for you guy's before he did Dirty Debs he did a series called The Bus Stop. Same type of thing he would pick up girls at a bus stop and take them home and fuck them. So If you want to claim Ed is the first then at least know what his first attempts was. (The Bus Stop) But Again as I said earlier we won an AVN award before Dirty Debs was even put out...so how could he be the first? We made our first reality tape in 1981 called Wet T Shirt contest (I know thats original)lol And yes you can even still buy that tape at GM Video Store

The godfather of GONZO is John Stagliano, aka Buttman, Ed Powers also deserves credit, as well as Seymore Butts cuz Seymore really started to make porn hip and cool. The real father of gonzo is a guy who went by the name of Ugly George in NYC, true reality video, cruised the streets of Manhattan getting chicks to flash - maybe fuck too, I've never seen any of his movies, just read about him when I was a kid, late 70's era, in Penthouse or somewhere.

On the Net, California Pimp/NetvideoGirls was way ahead of the OxCash and NastyDollars sites. Probably there were others but I don't know them.

Man You need to get it straight John Stagliano got his Idea from GM Video Another friend of Ours. We almost went into business with him instead of his Butman stuff. The reason he did not get onboard with Gm is because we were involved in a law suit at the time with a little known company called AMX So he decided to go another direction. And if any of you know John Stagliano you can ask him and he will ell you he got the idea for but man from GM I am telling you all we are the Pioneers Of Reality Porn we even have the name trademarked.

Homegrown Video was around before any of them. Homegrown partially inspired Ed to start making Bus Stop Tales when he was just a sales guy at an adult company. We originated Sweetloads when my brother spec'd the deal with SEG at a trade show in Vegas for them to produce a "POV" style interview series for our Xplor Media productions...

Bang Bus did not originate "Gonzo" porn... (Porn Gonzo = Simulated XXX Reality) "Buttman" pioneered the style if anyone did...

Bang Bus deserves huge props for being marketing gurus and having a catchy product, but don't deify them as "pioneers". That title belongs to others way more deserving of the credit.

not going to nitpick here, whenever this type of thing gets discussed there are always people who will claim they were first, and they probably have some validity. But when most people think of GONZO PORN, it's more than just being unscripted or amateur as in Homegrown's case. Stagliano is the guy who all of today's gonzo studios and directors followed.

Gonzo in video porn terms is not shooting Wet T-shirt contests or girls gone wild type content. It's come to mean something different.

they WERE pioneers (to use your term) in the internet marketplace with mass marketing of several concepts. I'm not saying they were the first - pioneers inferrs plural - but they WERE one of the first to get several concepts intigrated into their marketing system out there in a big way to webmasters.

I think the original poster here really meant to ask - who was the first 'fake reality porn site'?

I'm sticking to Netvideogirls as the first on the Net to run with that concept. And he's still the best at it - he's got the huge loyal fanbase because he concentrates on it solely, he's not busy trying to concoct spinoff derivative sites like Farthammer, he looks after the franchise and he'll be making millions off it for years into the future.

Mutt: I agree that Netvideogirls deserves Grandmaster status.

So what did they "pioneer"?

Using TGP's to market content?
Doing Gonzo porn?
Using a partner program?
Using original content?
