U.S. Indicts Porn Sellers, Vowing Extensive Attack

" The Justice Department on Thursday charged a North Hollywood wholesaler of adult films with violating federal obscenity laws, launching the first of what it promised would be a wave of criminal cases against purveyors of pornography.

The 10-count federal grand jury indictment against Extreme Associates and its executives, Robert Zicari and Janet Romano of Northridge, raising alarm among adult entertainment companies in the San Fernando Valley, which is considered the capital of the nation's multibillion-dollar pornography industry.

Atty. Gen. John Ashhahahahaha promised upon taking office that he would crack down on the distributors of adult entertainment material such as movies, magazines and Web sites, much as his Reagan administration predecessor Edwin Meese III did in the 1980s."

This is a huge story and I think this is just the first salvo in a major war against the adult industry.

I have posted the entire 84 pages of the indictment and warrant. Reading through it all really scares me... especially with what is coming down the road...

Extreme Obscenity Indictment and Warrant

the sky is falling.... cept this time it might be true.

Mr.Fiction 08-08-2003 01:26 AM

I hope they go after some of the right wing porn site operators.

Even though I think these prosecutions are bullshit and unconstitutional, it will make laugh a tiny bit thinking about the idiots who voted for Bush sitting in jail because they voted for Bush.

Also, why doesn't Mexico count as a foreign country? Ever been there? Sure seems foreign to me.

Seems like there are a lot more Flips moving here, than USA citizens moving there . . . wonder why that is?

Matt_WildCash 08-08-2003 03:35 AM

To do a rape and murder porn movie in America and after you've been raided to have the "Federal five" (still selling the movies they are about screw you over for). And putting a special discount price on the movies and continuing business as usual.

This guy can't be to bright. But at least he is rich so he can put up a decent defence. He's asking to goto jail with those sort of movies though.

That said, I don't want them to convict him cause whos next?
Anything mildly extreme becomes illegal cause the Republications dont' like it?

Yeah he may be able to put up a decent defense...but for how long? These government legal teams can cockblock anyone to infinity, they have unlimited resources whereas he's just one lone webmaster - even if he does have millions.

People who don't think a successful legal assault on porn can happen need to think back to the aftermath of the Meese Commission during Reagans last term. Quite a few people served time, lots of companies were hit with enormous fines, and even more got scared out of business.

If you think times have changed since then, maybe they have, at least in a few large metropolitan areas and the San Fernando Valley. Unfortunately if you're unlucky enough to get prosecuted in flyover country or the South, which is where they will go after you, you can kiss it goodbye. Most of us live in more "enlightened" area's of the country, but a whole lot of America still lives in the 50's (or wishes they did).

amil 08-08-2003 04:29 AM

The best place to live is brazil. You just have to learn the language. I left LA 6 months ago. I have no regrets. Our studios are set up here in Brazil. http://www.dopestreams.com The dollar slipped a lot in the last 9 months but it is back to 3 real to 1 usd. The cost of living is super cheap. I have off duty police for securtiy(dirt cheap.) I paid for a license to carry a gun( $200usd). If you have $$$ sky is the limit here. Beautiful beaches and people everywhere. $5000 a month here you are living almost like odai hussein.(lol)

sirrobin 08-08-2003 04:33 AM

The USA is no place to be if you are a porn webmaster.

I dont even keep 2257 records :winkwink:

Meese Commission.. anyone knows where to find the original report? (not the offical one :winkwink:

I only found some interesting articles

Quote:

The research disproving the claim that sexual imagery triggers aggression would exhaust the remainder of this issue. The best overview can be read in The Question of Pornography: Research Findings and Policy Implications2, where authors Edward Donnerstein, Daniel Linz and Steven Penrod conclude, "Should harsher penalties be leveled against persons who traffic in pornography, particularly violent pornography? We do not beleive so . . . as we have noted, the existing research probably does not justify this approach."3 Neither the overview of the research prepared by Dr. Edna Einsiedel for the Meese Commission nor the Surgeon's General Report found a causal link between sexual material and anti-social behavior. When the Meese Commission, ignoring its own research, recommended restrictions on sexual material, two commissioners -- both women -- issued a dissenting report saying, "No self-respecting investigator would accept conclusions based on such a study."4 One dissenter, Dr. Judith Becker, director of the Sexual Behavior Clinic at New York State Psychiatric Institute, told The New York Times, "I've been working with sex offenders for 10 years and have reviewed the scientific literature and I don't think a causal link exists between pornography and sex crimes."

I don't know where to find the original report, but the history is interesting. The Meese Commission was stacked with religious conservatives (much like todays Department of Justice) and anti-porn feminists for the express purpose of contradicting the conclusions of the 1970 Presidential Commission on Pornography. The first commission concluded that porn does not contribute to sexual violence or criminal/deliquent behavior in any way. Obviously those conclusions just wouldn't do.

Despite the obviousness of the fix being in from the beginning, look at how many people were fooled and its effects on policy. Its was probably one of the most brazen but effective pieces of propaganda ever.

This is a good article on it:

Expect alot more of this and other things as the elections get closer. Typical Republican shell game when they know they aren't doing well, scramble to half please the minority voters and special interest etc groups. :glugglug

Just heard over the radio that according to Pew's latest poll, Bush's approval ratings are now at pre-9/11 levels. 53%

I think on the internet at least pornographers have got really careless.

Back in like 98?, I forget, when some legislation looked like it was going to go down, everyone cleaned up their tours taking down all the hardcore, using censor spots, etc.

Then the last couple years it seems like people are putting a huge bullseye on their head. Tours with penetration, fluids, gagging on cocks to the point of vomitting.

Look at how a big company like Hustler does their tour. Clean as a whistle.

Maybe Im just an idealist, but in a perfect world free sites would have no content, just teaser shit. Paysites would mostly just tease on the tour. Signup ratios would be much better, and there wouldnt be much porn out there that wasnt behind a password protected section.

On the "Frontline" segment, he defended his wares, which includes a video called "Forced Entry" which consists of episodes in which a woman is raped, beaten, spat on, degraded in every way and finally murdered.

Did he really expect to stay in business?

Some of the loudest anti-porn noise comes from the feminist movements.

Almost funny, pro fredom of speech or pro porno work usually has a scientifically sturcture (references) while most anti porn pages reminds on typical hate / nazi site. (at least here in germany. you just have to substitute a few keywords to change a pornhater page into a nazi page)

Feminists have become little more than a bunch of irrelevant, shrill harpies that no one anyone pays much attention to anymore. Its not feminists occupying almost all of the most powerful positions of the Republican party, its right wing religious kooks.

edit: And when I say "feminists" I don't mean the equal pay for equal work or protect our reproductive rights types. I mean the radical theoreticians like Dworkin. Many more moderate feminists are "pro-sex" and in favor of legalizing things like prostitution.
