Breakfast - people actually eat pancakes and syrup?

I had pancakes and maple syrup for the first time ever this morning (under advisement from someone who shall remain nameless). You know who you are. :321GFY

Sickeningly sweet, and the whole time I was thinking "this is what a tumor must taste like". Of course I ate it all though... I'll be fucked if some hobo is going to fish my breakfast out of a trash can.

I can't believe that people actually like that shit. :(

Agree? Disagree?

SomeCreep 08-06-2003 03:09 AM

pancakes? Nah, I eat TV dinners for breakfast

twistyneck 08-06-2003 03:10 AM

What kind of freak doesn't put maple syrup on pancakes?

John3 08-06-2003 03:12 AM

I had a late night dinner with two dancers tonight.

They both like syrup :glugglug

Gemini 08-06-2003 03:16 AM

Sure! Ate them all the time growing up. :) Thats one thing the hubby doesn't care to make so I just nuke waffles every now and then. There are lots of kinds of syrups tho. I like Blueberry syrup, and strawberry now and again. But we did either maple or plain Karo years ago before they made all the flavored ones.

jas1552 08-06-2003 03:19 AM

Where did you get the pancakes from?

Mr.Fiction 08-06-2003 03:30 AM

What country are you from?

I was told something along the lines of, "they are lovely, you need to drown them in maple syrup!"

Next time I'll stick to a breakfast bun. :)

SomeCreep 08-06-2003 04:15 AM

wtf, pancakes from mcdonalds are gross. Never eat those.

Herb Kornfield 08-06-2003 04:19 AM

Sarah_Jayne 08-06-2003 04:29 AM

Not the price for your pancakes and syrup. Now factor in the 20 cents the syrup cost, the delivery of the product, and the stores profit.

$1.09 for pancakes, what did you expect?

Should have re-phrased my reply :) - That'll teach you not to eat proper pancakes :)

chodadog 08-06-2003 04:52 AM

Pancakes are great. I don't drown them in maple syrup though. That's a bit much. Just a little bit poured over them and they're great, even from McDonalds.

Sarah_Jayne 08-06-2003 04:52 AM

lol...fair enough..both kinds are good..just different

ldinternet 08-06-2003 04:58 AM

Of course I've had English pancakes before, but I wasn't keen on them. Maybe I need to make my own American style pancakes.

What's the difference between American waffles and pancakes? Pancakes with purdy embossed squares = waffles?

Waffles are crispier..hard to explain

Tipsy 08-06-2003 05:09 AM

Waffles are good. Managed to get a good waffle maker. Hard to find over here.

Jizar II 08-06-2003 05:30 AM

I had a feeling it was Mcdonalds. There's your problem. Mcdonalds breakfast completely sucks. I've had their pancakes and sausage and they are awful. Their breakfast biscuits aren't any better. I've never tried a breakfast bun so I don't know about that.
You can't judge pancakes from McD's pancakes. I guarantee they'll be better from just about anywhere else.

Fuck you. :boid

Bow to the American way of life. Pancakes and maple syrup rule, live with it.

X37375787 08-06-2003 06:36 AM

You are so greatful, I shall never give you advice on good McDonalds food anymore.

KRL 08-06-2003 06:39 AM

You've never been to an IHOP? (International House of Pancakes)

The breakfast of champions is what I am having now...a double Bloody Mary.

cash69 08-06-2003 06:42 AM

goto the "international house of pankakes" not mc donalds.. get the one with half cherries and half blue berries on the side topped off with whip cream :glugglug

Ironhorse 08-06-2003 06:52 AM

You don't have to drown them in anything, they are like crepes but thicker, I give them a yummy :thumbsup

AdultNex 08-06-2003 06:53 AM

I find it interesting how many Americans I know have never tried the most common breakfast foods available.

Stringent...

AmeliaG 08-06-2003 06:56 AM

I don't like to start my day with heavy carbs, but I love pancakes as a late night which possibly went to the next day snack. Not much for syrup, but pancakes are yummy. I've got the inside skinny on pancakes in Los Angeles. I've done research.

GFED 08-06-2003 07:07 AM

I practically live off Ramen noodles... but pancakes are good too... :thumbsup

CDSmith 08-06-2003 07:39 AM

Jeez people, pancakes from McDeath's?? C'mon, live a little. Of COURSE that's what a tumor tastes like.

Special pancake recipes in my family include bueberry pancakes (made with fresh Manitoba blueberries, or a berry called "saskatoons"), strawberry pancakes, and my oldest brother's patented recipe for potato pancakes. Any of these would blow your mind, no doubt about it.

And none of this fake table syrup shit. You gotta have the real MAPLE syrup from Quebec. I have relatives in Quebec that send us a case of it every so often, best in the world I tell you. The real stuff is light and not sickeningly sweet at all.

there's worse you could get from that place.

booker 08-06-2003 08:02 AM

The best pancakes, hell the best breakfast, you can get, is at a true American diner along the highway at 4am after you've been driving for 9 hours.

Stack of 3 pancakes with a lil' butter between them, a little syrup on top so it drips down the sides, 4 slices of bacon, 3 sausage links, two fried eggs, hash browns and 2 slices of toast. Wash down with OJ and a cup of coffee. Back on the road.
