Went to the dentist today........ $13k

I have decent teeth, could use a cleaning and some whitening. But I have been seeing this shit on TV on shows like Extreme Makeover, where they make peoples teeth freaking perfect with porcelain veneers. I had braces as a kid, have some small gaps, and teeth that are not ideally shaped. So I went to one of these cosmetic dentists for a consultation. Turns out my teeth are not so bad, she only suggested 10 veneers up front, and a whitening. Grand total, $13k. I guess a full set is $20-30k.

I think I need to go to dental school, sounds like being a dentist is where the $ is! How about a charity auction to help me with the $13k so I can have perfect teeth for my wedding?

BRISK 07-24-2003 10:24 AM

$13k for maybe 6 hours of work? Nice

dana 07-24-2003 10:24 AM

dnsmonster 07-24-2003 10:27 AM

From what I heard, veneers don't last all that long. Something like 5-7 years. Might wanna check up on that. Just file them bitches down and get some caps.

Zoe 07-24-2003 10:27 AM

The dentist probably settled with Acacia and needs to make up for the profit loss.....

BradShaw 07-24-2003 10:40 AM

EscortBiz, you happy with the results? I know several people who have used this dentist and they have "hollywood" smiles. Only reason I considered it was because I want good teeth in wedding photos, and I can afford it now.

mastamindz 07-24-2003 10:42 AM

Just knock the fuckers out and get some fake teeth.

GrimShawn 07-24-2003 10:46 AM

Ok a few things based on my own research before forking over the cash.

Make sure you can see photos and confirm its work the dentist who will be working on your teeth did. Kinda like hiring a design guy you want to make sure that the same guy who did the stuff in the portfolio will do your stuff.

Make sure they use "porcelain" and not any other stuff, many dentist will try to sell you on some other stuff.

Also many dont tell you but for 2-3 weeks you will wear temp teeth, to adjust the bite etc. It will be a big annoyance but the results if your guy is good will be well worth it.

I am very happy I did it.

My problem was that my teeth didnt show when I smiled and they where not perfect. Now they are PERFECT and show when I smile plus they are a awesome natrual white.

Also make sure they give you as much of that stuff that makes you not feel anything while they file. You will have to go piss 20 times while your teeth are getting filed because of that shot but you wont feel any pain.

Have my hair transplant appointment tomorrow. Chris, I am very vain!

As for the teeth, I think I am going to have a good cleaning and whtening done, then go from there. She gave me some valium to take before the deep cleaning.

the Shemp 07-24-2003 11:05 AM

i have wooden teeth

I heard $800 per tooth is the going rate, think I was quoted over $1k per.

TheGoldenChild 07-24-2003 11:14 AM

I hope the dentist loses his wedding ring down your fucking throat.

Here is an idea-
Have a head transplant, complete with new personality.
Then maybe you'll get laid someday.

600-3000 (Dr Linhart in NY charges 3000) the cost to them per tooth from the lab is all the same 125-225 depending how complicated the shape. Their fee is mostly for their experience and time (and boat)

Dude, check out http://www.ameriplanusa.com/ it's like $20 a month but will save you a ton of money. It's not insurance it's like a discount card. Almost all dentist accept it.

Gimmy 07-24-2003 11:16 AM

go do it in Russia, it's mad cheap over there

PersianKitty 07-24-2003 11:19 AM

I think most accept it, it's like insurance.

stevecore 07-24-2003 11:23 AM

in all likelihood, you'll get the procedure done then someone will knock them out of your mouth the next day.

eiht_98 07-24-2003 11:25 AM

my uncle and aunt are dentists....hahaha....free for me

SextrafficPete 07-24-2003 11:25 AM

ever notice nobody gives a fuck about you brad

and the world was a much better place while you were gone

can't even handle an addiction :) lightweight...

LeeNoga 07-24-2003 11:29 AM

I opted for captek crowns, porcelain with gold insides, radiates natural color, if you go chiclet white everyone knows you have fake teeth, I am glad I went natural color, nobody can tell. I did my first front 8 teeth, had gums cut and all was cosmetic, and so glad I did it 5 years ago, it cost over 10K but had dental insurance and cost 1/2 that and got a great look.

They talked me out of veneers and you may want to research captek but veneers are not painful, crowns can be.

my doctor whom I know for the last 12 years charged $500 and his daughter did the job.
Her daughter is the model featured in 17 magazine,
she does em for 1/2 her friends.

it's VERY painfull and I refused to have one done for myself,
I am married and teeth were never the main reason people wanted to smile back at me
;-)))

Just brush your fucking teeth.

$13,000 for cosmetics is NOT worth it.

x3guide 07-24-2003 11:37 AM
