My American money is quickly becoming worthless!

Someone tell Mr. Bush to get the economy back on track before my American money is worthless. The Canadian dollar is at an all-time high. http://www.x-rates.com/d/CAD/USD/graph120.html

What's wrong with this world? I can't even afford to pay my bills with this exchange rate. I used to get 1.55x my money. Now I get 1.38!?!?! Any other Canadians in this situation? And I thought the situation was bad 3 months ago! :Oh crap

On another note, time to order some bondage toys from our financially troubled American friends. .

Pretty much. A weak dollar is supported by the Bush Administration. It'll help our export sector back to life, and put more pressure on EU and Japan central banks to decrease interest rates (which are low and nonexistant, respectively).

:2 cents:

bristol 05-06-2003 01:28 AM

DirtyRider 05-06-2003 02:42 AM

topal 05-06-2003 03:27 AM

your money is becoming worthless because your goverment printing bilions of dollars each day and sending it to other countries for trade or giving credits.. have you ever heard why inflation occcures? because you dont have the equivalent of your money.. its just a name "$" and that name start to get into your country and start to give a place to "?" euro....

Marcus 05-06-2003 03:44 AM

It does suck, I'm looking to get a place in montreal and the currency converters dont look as good now as they did 6 months ago.

sacX 05-06-2003 03:47 AM

I just found this site that has free real time currency charts..can see minute by minute ticks

fxstreet.com

It's pretty cool, a bit depressing. I've been watching the NZD that just hit a 3 year high agaisnt the USD

I need to take my prices higher if this continues.

dapproid 05-06-2003 07:47 AM

Well IMHO the president should start spending his bucks on keeping his own country and economy stable instead of bombing and then rebuild other for 40% of the federal budget.

Don't be mad at us because your dollar is soon valued the sames as its 'worthless' canadian counterpart. :321GFY I've seen canadian dollar bashed SOO many times on this board it's unreal.

bristol 05-06-2003 07:51 AM

no.. he should not spend more money on his own country he should spend less, how the fuck you think letting the govt spend more money (therefore taking away what the private sector can do) is "good" for the econonmy, i dont know!

and it's not 40% of the federal budget.. $80bn for the war was less than 1% of GDP..

dapproid 05-06-2003 07:54 AM

Okay I'll rephrase: Spend less money on destroying other countries. And next year every american can have another $500 in their wallets to spend on healt care, education, cars, porn, whatever...

bristol 05-06-2003 07:55 AM

i like your thinking.. more money for the people! :winkwink:

besterman 05-06-2003 08:44 AM

How can a smaller business owner hedge against currency fluctuation between US and CDN? I.e. you get paid in US and have expenses in CDN...how would you go about "hedging" You need a brokerage account?

Obviously the simplest hedging is segregating (US expenses in US dollars, etc..) but sometimes you have to pay debts in other currencies, etc..

That's very unlikely.. 95% of your expenses would be in US too.. the only expense in CDN would be living expenses, office supplies etc. You get better value for your money since the currency is in U.S. which makes living expenses in Can cheaper otherwise it'd be the same as U.S. if the dollar value was the same.. for people making money in CDN it feels the same.

Route66 05-06-2003 09:19 AM

Hmm...sounds more like a problem of living past your means if that small of a change in the exchange rate is stopping you from paying your bills. Either that or you need to get better at your job.

Quit blaming others for your failures and you'll start seeing ways all around you to fix your problems.

:)
