President Moon convinced Kim Jong Un to release U.S. prisoners!

I'm really liking President Moon! South Korea is a great ally and negotiating the release of our prisoners from North Korea was a kind and generous gesture.

North Korea Allegedly Released U.S. Prisoners Ahead of Landmark Meeting With Trump

North and South Korean leaders met last week for a historic summit where they committed to ending decades of hostilities and denuclearize the Korean Peninsula. Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, however, warned that North Korea's leadership should not be trusted.

“The North Koreans have a tendency to do this when they’re under pressure. They come to the table, they make promises, and then they break those promises,” she told Fox and Friends hosts Tuesday.

Kim Dong-chul, Kim Sang-duk, and Kim Hak-sung are three U.S. citizens who were arrested in North Korea last year and accused of “hostile acts.” All three have been held in one of the rogue regime’s notorious labor camps ever since. But now, multiple media reports have claimed that the three men were released from the camp and brought to receive medical treatment in North Korea’s capital Pyongyang.

Moon really is a bad ass :thumbsup

Why couldn't Trump do this? Trump sent Mike Pompeo and got.... nothing.... nothing at all.

Usually when a high ranking US official goes to North Korea they come back with Americans being held in North Korea. Not this time.

We both know I am not a Trump supporter. Once Trump got China to say they would not defend a first strike by North Korea, it was all over. Did he do it skillfully. Was he trying? I doubt he even understands it happened. But it was bumbling Trump who started this.

I disagree. Trump didn't do anything other than the same old tactic - "more sanctions".

The United States isn't negotiating with North Korea AT ALL. Everything is being handled by South Korea. Mike Pompeo went to North Korea, which seems to be the only contact we've had with them, and failed to secure any kind of a promise or commitment or even the release of the US prisoners. South Korea is doing this - all of this - on their own.

President Moon is a superstar!

This clip of his swearing in 11 months ago shows his sole focus was peace with North Korea, and the Trump adminstration felt he'd be too soft on Kim Jong Un. Worth watching.

He did this all in 11 months!

directfiesta 05-02-2018 05:42 PM

South Korea invited, then merged their athletes at the olympics. Not Trump doing, South Korea/North Korea doing
Followed by meetings and peace negotiations : South & North Korea doing
Taking about doing a treaty to end the war : South & North Korea doing
Release of prisoners : South & North Korea doing ....

This is not the first time ... remember North & South Vietnam : once the US left, peace was reached ... Today, the US uses Vietnam to many usage...

South Korea want's to sign peace treaty, Trump can't politically afford to allow this to flop and needs to sign as well, but in signing he needs to recognise North Korea as a Nuclear power, and pull back sanctions so the North and the South can trade again, which is a BIG part of the peace deal.

Trump already proved he was willing to fuck South Korea over with trade deals and turn a blind eye to China.. again.

South Korea certainly want the North to stop threatening them and the USA, BUT.. they certainly don't need North Korea to denuclearise when all that would mean is an invitation ticket to China to move in.

Complex times we live in.

Trump hasn't even met with Kim Jong Un. President Moon has been working on this for 11 months since taking office, it's the sole platform he ran on for POTUS of SK.

Trump didn't walk Kim Jong Un into South Korea, Moon did.

Trump didn't barter the release of U.S. prisoners, Moon did.

Kim Jong Un didn't sign a denuclearization agreement with Trump, he signed it with President Moon.

Kim Jong Un didn't sign a treaty ending the Korean war with Trump, he signed it with Kim Jong-un.

Rudy Giuliani was on TV today saying Trump is preparing to meet with Kim Jong own and negotiate. Your own people are admitting Trump hasn't even started negotiations yet and you want to give him credit for everything president moon has done? What the fuck is wrong with you? Are you that desperate for good news that you will believe the lie instead of what actually happened? It's all well documented.

BaldBastard 05-03-2018 10:01 PM

Trump has done a lot towards North Korea, he was the only president to hold each and every American up to the slaughter and all but beg North Korea to take a shot, he also forced North Korea to expedite their nuke program, when Trump came in it was thought NK had at least 5 nukes and now that's over 60. Lets not mention North Koreas biological weapons.. can't go freaking the American public out to much over something that's most likely already deployed to your shores just waiting an activation command...

Because of Trumps disregard for American and other counties lives I think North Korea has buckled as they realise its a no win resolve.

The signing of any treaty is a great thing! but once its signed, well North Koreans still hate South Koreans and viceversa, these people have been brain washed against each other for 60 years, its going to take a lot more than signature to resolve that.

North Korea needs to give up its nukes... so America or China can come in and install their nukes, flip a coin as to who.

And I'm sure Russia will have gas pipes there anytime soon.

https://www.rt.com/business/425722-n...russia-border/

It's good that Trumps actions have helped the peace signing process, but think carefully of what risks he was willing to weigh up to do that.

“What will happen to U.S. forces in South Korea if a peace treaty is signed?” Moon Chung-in, an adviser to the president. “It will be difficult to justify their continuing presence.”

Hopefully NK will release patriotic and certainly not spies prisoners this week.. Kim Hak-song, Kim Dong-chul and Kim Sang-duk

Yeah, it's hilarious. Trump is so bad at this he probably won't sign a peace treaty between any other countries, either.

Honest question of anyone, because I don't know - did the East and West Germans hate each other? It seems like they reunified relatively easily but that may have been long in the cards and the wall coming down was just the last little bit. I'm not familiar with that history. I hope the Koreans can end up the same, anyway.

It did feel risky for sure and I, for one, was thinking WTF when he was yelling fire and fury.

You are automatically suspect for giving one ounce of credit to President Trump, though. The correct answer from your side appears to be ZERO.

It sure would be nice to bring our people home, wouldn't it? But of course, it will be a complete surprise to us. We had no idea this was happening and had no part in it and President Trump has not consistently stated his objective to limit our overseas bases. That is the reality of some people.

Every one with a brain knows all this, they know Trump couldn´t organize a ladies tea party, oh, ok, maybe that, as he´s doing a good job of the US government. But he couldn´t organize a wall, he can´t lay a brick, unless it was a turd.

Most importantly, Kim & moon have got things tied up and Moon has done the excellent job of doing this :thumbsup

Trump was on TV this morning talking about arranging a time and place to pick up the hostages, talking it up like it's a lot of work to pick up the ringing phone and hear President Moon say "Your hostages are here come pick them up"

Trump even left people hanging saying "We have a time and place and will announce it later".

You can bet Trump is going to constantly be on TV with the hostages and act like "it was a lot of work" to pick up the phone and make arrangements to pick them up :1orglaugh

I bet Trump will say Democrats tried to stop or interfere with the negotiations.

I bet Trump will even try to take credit and make up some lie about xlong negotiationsx. I bet he won't give President Moon barely a mention.

It's awesome seeing president Moon taking the initiative to change the world for the better and not let Trump's lazy hate ego derail peace, at any cost. In the name of peace I'd let Trump take all the credit as well, even though Kim Jong Un signed the peace treaty with Moon, not Trump. And even though Kim Jong Un signed the denuclearization deal with Moon, not Trump. And even though President Moon negotiated release of U.S. prisoner with Kim Jong Un, not Trump. And even though Kim Jong Un walked into South Korea with Moon, not Trump.

President Moon is an admirable leader that's accomplished so much in his 10 months in office :thumbsup

Anyone think Pompeo is on his way to go pick up the prisoners and will take credit for their release and or give Trump credit??

But is that really true? I guess it all depends on one's definition of "coming to the table". I don't think they've ever been this close to the table before so this situation may be different.

Yes they have, 3 times. 3 times they actually signed denuclearization agreements and 3 times broke the agreements.
