Top Trippy Rock Bands/Albums?
By "trippy" I mean yes, drugs. Smoke a bowl, roll a joint, drop some acid or vape out and put on one of these bands or albums. What's your go to artist or CD or Playlist when you just want to chill, relax, forget about shit and escape the stresses of life just for a little while?
I'll get you started with some Classics but add your own. I want my mind expanded and blown, tripped out and tuned in, spaced-out and progressively ROCKED! BANDS: Pink Floyd Yes The Moody Blues Grateful Dead Genesis (Peter Gabriel era and early Collins era, before they went 80's pop and sucked) ALBUMS: Dark Side of The Moon (Pink Floyd) 2112 (Rush) Thick As A Brick (Jethro Tull) Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (The Beatles) Days Of Future Passed (The Moody Blues) :GFYBand |

Kidding, great choice! Listening to Pink Floyd's The Wall right now. Trippy as fuck with headphones on. Damn, Roger Waters sure had "issues" huh? :upsidedow |
psychocandy - the jesus and marychain

Kenny Rogers

The Wall?
Really? |
|
Dr Dre's The Chronic and Snoop Dogg's DoggyStyle - each track tells a story you can kinda get lost into when you're high.
Seven Mary Three's Rock Crown and/or American Standard - They defy labeling. One song will be grunge, and the next rock, or have more of a country twang, or rockabilly, or a ballad. Then there's always Marley. |

Syd Barrett was brilliantly talented, both as a guitarist and a songwriter. He was also a quite disturbed individual. He enjoyed taking LSD, despite the fact that it exasperated his already existing schizophrenia. This strange mix took his mind to uncharted waters. This fact was manifested not only in Pink Floyd. But even moreso in his solo music, as his mind further deteriorated. The result could be thought of as something beyond psychedelia. Maybe call it psychephrenia!
When I first listened to this album, I had very fucked up dreams that night. And I know it was due to my subconsciousness trying to process, make sense of, and BSOD'ing from the haphazard input I'd given it earlier that day. To me, that alone proves that Syd's music was absolutely exceptionable and there's nothing else like it. https://youtu.be/pqCrBuQecyg |
All the greats have been posted! Caught these guys at a festival high as Fuk, Great live band...

This band is more on the heavy side but this is one of the best prog pieces in quite some time:

This thread turned into a "prog-rock" thread instead of a "trippy" flower-child like thread. :)

I know Keith Emerson of ELP killed himself recently because he couldn't play the piano any longer due to illness (so sad). The SAC must have their grandkids playing in the band by now. LOL Quote:
Another icon gone. :( (Although that wouldn't stop Carl Palmer from getting replacements and still calling it 'ELP'.) |
