$45,000

Havent been on GFY as of late casue as many of you know Ive been working on details to this new house I bought last week. Taking ALL my fucking time.

After going to the design center for the new house today to pick up and look at "upgrades" the total was $45,000 in fucking upgrades to the new house.

Holy shit.
I was thinking we'd be getting like 10k at the most in upgrades. (cherry floors and Granite.)

Holy fuck. So much for 10k.

If this keeps up I may have to start working again for the first time in 2 years.

What the fuck is going on here?

RAM 04-02-2003 06:47 PM

welcome to the real world...

boneprone 04-02-2003 06:47 PM

Who am I kidding. My work ethic has been dead for years and I dont think I can ever revive it...

Im just fucked.

GoGoBar 04-02-2003 06:48 PM

Hehe, new construction is great but you pay for stuff you otherwise wouldn't. I prefer to let others handle the hassles of upgrades. The house I just bought is 2 years old.

(Did you look into "real" landscaping costs yet? :eek2 )

Also, have you checked out what your property taxes are? The house we bought we pay about $13k/year in taxes. New construction in the price range would have been ~$30k/year

angelsofporn 04-02-2003 06:48 PM

i have to redo a 3600 sf one i just bought...around 80K...i never stop working though

lil2rich4u2 04-02-2003 06:48 PM

nah easy solution man!

Just dont let anyone have an account on to submit to your TGP, even if your signup page says to come here and ask for it ...

using this strategy, you can post all your own links and make all the cash for yourself!

Too bad you didnt think of it first, eh?

Mine too if you're talking about real jobs. If you mean the net I could do this forever but a job, no fucking way. Over 5 years on my own now and I'm not going back.

Gutterboy 04-02-2003 06:50 PM

I told my wife we could settle for Oak Floors, oak cabinets and skip the huge master jet tub and tile and I could buy myself a hummer instead.

I mean shit.
I was fucking serious. 45k in wood tile and granite upgrades?
Fuck that shit.

My life is now over. I can see the end.

GoGoBar 04-02-2003 06:56 PM

hehe

Just make sure you're gonna live there for a while before you put all this $$ into upgrades. Becuase you won't get most of it back when you go to sell.

We have a fireplace in the Master BR. It's very good to warm the room up quickly when it's a little chilly at night. Ours doesn't go thru the wall to the master bath, but I think I'm gonna get a plasma installed in there :) (or at least a 22" lcd or something)

Lensman offered to help last year this time when he showed me a home he was gunna buy me and I had to turn down.
The only reason I had to turn it down was becasue it was in Sacremento.

I cant live there.
The warden (wife) wont allow it.

Also companies like LikeWhoa offered similar offers in Places Like NewYork but fuck man, i really am stuck here in Portland. Plus at the time I really wasnt intrested in working for anyone or working in general for that matter.

So instead Im gunna be strapped up here in Portland paying for my own house and coming out of this retired lifestyle :(

Luckly we already have the driveway squared away with the price in the house.

If we choose to "upgrade" the driveway however it will cost more.

But the standard driveway is just fine.

And we live here in Oregon. Trees are everywhere.
Ill pay 200.00 to get some of them cut.

Peaches 04-02-2003 07:18 PM

The beauty of living in the woods out in the middle of nowhere - free natural landscaping :) Right now I have almost 2 acres (trying to buy another 2) and I "mow" my grass with a weedeater, there's so little of it :thumbsup

boneprone 04-02-2003 07:19 PM

I think its time for me to throw a simple paysite together and make some extra income.

With all the people I know and my knowlege of what sells an affilate program should help pay my mortage and keep the lifestyle Im used to. Something to think about.

I think April 2003 may be the re-birthing of boneprone.
Now I wish I hadnt sold off some of my sites throughout the year.

Dawgy 04-02-2003 07:46 PM

well bone if u wanna go gay hit me up, i have all kinds of new shit in the works.

gonna be a re-birth of Dawgy over the next few months as well :)

TheJimmy 04-02-2003 08:06 PM

I feel your pain man...

Right as I bought this house, 2 nice solid sources of traffic & cashflow went to SHITTTTT.....

making 80% of what I was last year is all too familiar a sound...

reinvention in 03 is a good theme....

:thumbsup :thumbsup

Rip 04-02-2003 09:00 PM

We've been redoing our house, which is a pain in the ass, while you're living in it,
as soon as your eyes see the sparkle of premium finishes, and you get hooked on having those features... you're gonna spend money and lots of it :)

we put cherry floors in our place to match the furniture we have, just purchasing the wood for the entry stairs $150 a tread just for the wood, never mind installing or trim and there were 13 of them

my advice, if you like it, and you're having a house built or whatever, then put it in, if you can manage to close your eyes when you see the bill

hehe.. in 2000, I paid 120K for landscaping labor and materials to change the lay of the side yard a bit and put in an 8,000 gallon water feature. Stuff adds up fast.

DearAbby 04-02-2003 09:06 PM
