Would you refuse to do business with someone over their war views?

I've already had one kook say he will never do business with me because I posted a poll about the war, so: how many of you would not do business with someone over their board persona, war views, or other shit that goes on here?

I know a few gentle, sensitive souls have refused to do business with Labret over board shit.. so I'm curious.

cluck 03-23-2003 02:41 PM

Mixing business and politics when it doesn't need to be mixed is retarded.

Amputate Your Head 03-23-2003 02:42 PM

over a board persona? No...

but real life views, possibly, if the shit is thrown in my face outside of GFY... GFY is voluntary. No one makes anyone come here.

Manga1 03-23-2003 02:42 PM

It's never a good idea to mix politics or religion with business. You shouldn't be posting your political opinions on this board if you expect to do business with people here. Not very smart.

candyflip 03-23-2003 02:42 PM

Anyone who would let their political opinions get in the way of business isn't someone that I'd want to do business with anynow...so :321GFY 'em!

rooster 03-23-2003 02:43 PM

I wont do business with anoyone that hopes for usa casualties.

pimpcat 03-23-2003 02:45 PM

people that base sound business decisions over some internet bullshit war talk shouldnt be in business.

In other words.. If i chose to not do business with you cause you had a certain opinion, or stated how YOU felt about something would just be plain stupid.. I feel bad for week minded people that get all in a tizzy over other peoples views and take everything so personal. i say fuck them and I dont need their business if they are that insecure about things.

Brujah 03-23-2003 02:45 PM

Sure. I wouldn't want to do business with anyone who is anti-war yet pro-casualty. Including anyone that wishes the US suffers greatly in one way or another.

Gutterboy 03-23-2003 02:46 PM

Personally I don't give a fuck.

If it was beneficial to my online enterprise I would do business with someone who wanted to wipe every Allah worshipping sand ****** from the face of the earth just as soon as I would someone with the same views about Americans.

rooster 03-23-2003 02:47 PM

gutter, im sure you also have no qualms about sending hardcore porn to kids mailboxes

I agree, a board persona is just that, but I absolutely would not do business with anyone in real life that held the views that some of these persona's hold.

directfiesta 03-23-2003 02:47 PM

No, but I know a few who wouldn't...

Hey Rooster, want to do business....hahaha

word...

like I said... it's fuckin dumb to base a business decision on shit you read VOLUNTARILY on a bbs. No one is forcing anyone to be here. Don't wanna read the shit? Don't. No one to blame but yourself if ya do...

but if someone starts pushing their fucking anti-American bullshit in my face in a method that is NOT voluntary to me... then fuck 'em. I reserve the right to fuck you up.

Brujah 03-23-2003 02:50 PM

what the hell kind of stance is Anti-War/Pro-Casualty anyway ?

Gman.357 03-23-2003 02:51 PM

Most of the people who express (or should I say ATTEMPT to express) the most extreme views of either side, such as "I hope USA gets another 911", or "I hope Iraqi citizens die" are usually anons, and you wouldn't know who they are anyway.

I would HOPE, in all honesty, that most people's view of the world (and this war) are more complex than their GFY persona leads everyone to believe. Regardless of which "side" they're on.

:2 cents:

it's called bushiness...

dav555add 03-23-2003 02:51 PM

Business should not be mixed with political views or religious preferences.
However, when you have an asshole like directfiesta, it would be hard to ignore his anti American views and do business with him.
Obviously, you should not violate any trade embargoes...

gothweb 03-23-2003 02:54 PM

I don't think I would refuse business over stuff like that. After all, I doubt I agree 100% on any subject with *anyone* on this board. I still work with a few of you.

If you or anyone emailed me about buying traffic, I would help get you some traffic. Period. As long as people don't carry their asshole-ish attitudes over into business, as long as people actually pay their business debts and deliver what they say they will deliver, then I have no professional quarrel with anyone.

I dont think he is an asshole, that's the way they feel in Quebec, they hate everybody, Ontarians Americans etc...It's nothing personal, I think it's only place in the world with Nazi language police:1orglaugh

I agree with that. Some antiwar protestors have been doing things worthy of a beat down no matter how you feel about the conflict.

If someone jumped on my car, got in my face, or otherwise invaded my space, I'd beat them even if I agreed with the issue they were protesting.

I'm afraid not :winkwink:

I'm about as independent as you can be in this business. I don't think anyone on here refusing to do business with me would hurt my operation.

ldinternet 03-23-2003 03:08 PM

No.

Randy 03-23-2003 03:13 PM

Acctually anyone who does know shit about how to conduct business knows that politics and religion should always be avoided in work, and in business dealings. Just because you may do all your biz from home and may never meet face to face doesnt mean that just "anything goes". It's bad biz.
If you want to post your beliefs on this board either pro or anti war you should be able to accept and reap whatever consequences come.
If you were doing biz with anyone anywhere USA or abroad and mix your religious beliefs with your political beliefs and the person you are doing biz with is offended then yeh..you could lose their biz....
The reality of it is GFY mixes biz with personal posts. Thats all well and good, Just dont be surprised if after you spout certain beliefs that some indivduals wont do biz with you.
Every one has the right to say and post what they want. But if you do it and think that you can just go about biz as usual without some resentment from other people in the biz...then you are a fool.
Dont mix biz with political and religious beliefs

Directfiesta? Give me a break. I disagree with him on everything, but I'd still do business with him. Hey DF, wanna do biz? lol. He has his oppinon, but I think he at least respects other people's opinions as well.

I wouldn't...Not everyone can have the same beliefs...When doing business with someone I usually try to stay away from two topics: Politics & Religion! :thumbsup

Don't be ridiculous.

First - Where did I wish that America suffer heavy casualties?

Secondly - Supposing I had said such a thing, why is that any less malicious than all the people on this board who've posted their hope that lots of Iraqi's die? It isn't, so stop whining.

If you are brainwashed enough to believe that an Iraqi human being's life is worth intrinsically less than an American human beings life, so be it. Just don't misrepresent my views to support your delusions.
