I have both, PC is better, if you keep it clean and updated.

Loving the thread so far. :)
Waiting for PC haters to back fire though :)

Is Windows POSIX compliant ? No ? Then get in the bin.

Most Windows users are too stupid to understand why OS X is a more advanced OS.

That or they just don't care about being POSIX compliant because it affects little to nothing in their lives. I'm not a full-on techie by any means, so I guess I count as one of the stupids. What's that mean for me?

What will this "more advanced" OS do for me? Do I need it?

All this tech shit just boils down to this. Does the machine meet your needs? If it does, who gives a fuck about the competition. I have no doubt in my brain that a Macbook Pro would be cool and simple to use. I just don't want to pay the cost or waste the time to switch and learn a new OS.

so apple took UNIX and tweaked it for their hardware then sold it to people with too much money for way more than its worth..not much different that what BMW and a starbucks and a lot of other people do. More power to em but to get anything meaningful done over the long haul PC has more versatile and useful software apps,

yes windows sucks yes apple had the right idea in adding a workable gui to UNIX but overpriced it all

In the end UNIX and its variants are free a good graphics interface for free would do a lot towards edging windows and apple out of the market...in the end if it doesnt have the apps you need to do the job you need its worthless gimp is a poor replacement for photoshop

I prefer PC because you can't get any good video games on the mac.

Relic 11-03-2015 09:05 PM

I dual boot windows 10 and Emmabuntus and can load them from within each other. Winning and I hardly ever use my overpriced mac book pro.

I prefer Mac's, however I'll give you points for that comment. PC's make better gaming machines.

25 years ago my college campus had two computer labs filled with PCs. One room was all PC-XT (I just dated myself)...the other had PC-AT with SVGA color monitors. We had just two Mac units. We had two devoted Mac kids who rarely relinquished the Mac systems...so the majority of us concentrated on the PCs.

90% of the two-year curriculum focused on PCs. Mac had Photoshop, but PC had CorelDraw at the time - and the course was heavy on technical illustration instead of photo rendering. It wasn't until long after college that PC's started catching up in photo capability to the Macs. But when they did, I was thankful I knew them inside-out.

I've never forgotten that ratio. Would I like a Mac someday...perhaps. I'd give it a whirl. Might even like it. But these days I'm not willing to shell out the green for it.

DBS.US 11-03-2015 10:16 PM

I have both Mac and PC. If I could only have one it would be the Mac.:2 cents:

Used both, but I'm a PC man true and through. Not only do I think they're better performing machines (OS be damned), but you don't have to be a pompous ass to own one, and appreciate it. I'm an Android guy, too. I love it when iPhone pricks give me that look when I break out my Galaxy. Fuck them and their mock-turtlenecks.

When I first started doing graphic design in 1993, you kind of had to use a Mac. But that superiority ended in the early 2000's. I still laugh when I run into designers in 2015 that guffaw at me using a PC for video editing, 3D rendering, and graphic design.

That's simply not true, in fact the reverse is true.

Windows, with the exception of games, lacks many essential applications that can only be found on Apple OS X.

None of the software below runs on Windows.

MarsEdit.

MarsEdit allows you to manage an unlimited number of blogs from one program, including posts, pages, images, galleries etc

http://bbspics.com/images/2015/09/12...it_main.md.png

Ember

Ember lets you take full snapshots of web pages including the full source as rendered by Webkit. It allows you to take full screen, searchable snapshots that can be exported as images or source.

http://bbspics.com/images/2015/09/12...Library.md.png

Final Cut Pro X

Final Cut Pro X is arguably the best video editing software I have ever used.

http://bbspics.com/images/2015/09/12...700x437.md.jpg

Coda

Coda is an all in one code editor, ftp client, MySQL client. It allows you to quickly and easily access all your code for different projects but the feature I find most useful is the on the fly MySQL client that even outweighs clients like Navicat.

http://bbspics.com/images/2015/09/12...terface.md.png

Scrivener

Scrivener is a powerful content-generation tool for writers that allows you to concentrate on composing and structuring long and difficult documents. While it gives you complete control of the formatting, its focus is on helping you get to the end of that awkward first draft.

It allows you to save web pages, links, photos, any type of media within your project to use as reference material that's quickly and easily available from the editor. It has a cards based outlining tool. I've seen nothing else that compares.

http://bbspics.com/images/2015/09/12...640x400.md.jpg

Leaf

Leaf is an RSS / XML News Reader on steroids. Not only does it allow you to quickly read full articles regardless of whether the feed is summary only, but it allows you to snapshot, catalog and save articles of interest for later reference. It also keeps all the images intact and removes advertising

http://bbspics.com/images/2015/09/12...800x500.md.jpg

Cinemagraph Pro

Cinemagraph Pro for Mac is the award-winning pro tool designed exclusively for creating amazing cinemagraph images.

Logic Pro X

On my Music workstation I have Logic Pro X. I use Ableton Live and Native Instruments Maschine but it's Logic Pro that provides all the functionality I need to do final mixes.

First of all you should give a definition of MAC. What is that? A MAC address? MAC Cosmetics? Something else?

You know those sponsors you make bank with, the ones that you will never share because you don't want no one to take a slice of your cake!? Well...

PC is the best! - Got a PC? Stick with PC, never get a Mac, they're shit!

Only mac users will understand this.

Why does every apple user always sounds like a salesman for apple? Do you realize you just made an advertorial... and for what? Or is it some clause you've clicked 'agree' on or you'll end up like this?

I've been in computer graphics since around your start time also, and went through the same experience. I learned on a Mac in art school, but used my brother's PC at home after school. Being a 3d animator for 20 years, I can tell you that 90% of studios are PC based, mostly for the fact that you can make a "hot rod" computer with PC, while MAC makes that kind of difficult -- if not impossible.

And anyone I know who has a MAc keeps the same computer for a LONG time. I update when the latest hardware comes out. I like knowing how to build a computer, and that the sun doesn't rise and set based on Apple.

and maybe I don't use it enough, but I never liked the Apple OS, and the way things get done in the system. It's stupid.

Ok so now I officially know Im not as old as you BUT! I do so agree with that. I see where both sides could improve as now days Mac is running the same processors as they could not keep up in that department.

Rochard 11-04-2015 08:18 AM

The MAC / PC debate is a matter of personal choice. MAC owners swear their products are vastly superior, and I just don't see it. There was a time when PCs were horrible, but you have to understand why - PCs were compatible with everything, where as MAC wasn't compatible with anything.

I'll never forget when one of my friends came to me the day after Apple released it's new OS. He said "I can now sync up my calendar from my PC to my laptop to my cell phone". I looked him right in the eye and explained him that for years my wife has been planning out her calendar and it syncs up with my calendar, and it all syncs up with our PC, laptops, and cell phones.

A few years ago I decided to invest in a good computer, and decided to look into Apple. I wanted to finally build that awesome computer that could do anything. I priced out everything, and Apple was twice as much and couldn't do what I wanted it to do.

dyna mo 11-04-2015 08:36 AM

too stupid to grasp advanced appled os windows user here, i'm about to google POSIX, how do you spell POSIX?

BaltimorX 11-04-2015 08:37 AM
