Tommy's Bookmarks down

Is someone able to check with Tommy if he is aware his site is down from yesterday morning ?

MrGusMuller 07-17-2015 04:22 AM

:(
Ya! Down.

Cleo 07-17-2015 05:42 AM

Been down since Sunday for me. Hopefully he didn't just get out of the biz.

mineistaken 07-17-2015 05:49 AM

Shady bookmarks!
Ripped off webmasters by selling lifetime submit passes which turned out not to be lifetime.

Really? The $100 or thereabouts you or anyone else paid 4-5 years ago was a "rip off"? Lifetime never means forever and ever in the online world. Getting years out of submits to his site is one hell of a bargain. Sites with his traffic charge $30+ monthly

Tommy has always been a standup guy to me. I'd like to think he's just on vacation or something and the site took a crap while he is away versus it just disappearing.

Along those same lines, it's kind of a shame what happened with Famous Pornstars, AlmightyZeus and PornstarBook being left to rot. Would have been nice to see all three of those sites taken over, or managed by, someone. They used to be great sites.

Ever hear the expression It is better to remain silent and thought a fool than speak and remove all doubt. ?

The guy very, very rarely has anything positive to say.

Cameltoepro 07-17-2015 07:41 AM

Hope its up soon.. If not. Nothing to do but move on.

What kind of twisted logic is that? It is ok to lie about lifetime deal if it turns out to be worth it for that limited time?

How so?

He sold lifetime memberships and then decided to recant on that. That is a fact.

I always understood lifetime in terms of the life span of the site ...

Vacares 07-17-2015 09:44 AM

I used to submit free sites to Tommy years and years and years ago. Wow, funny to think about.

If anyone is friends with Tommy and he needs help with web hosting, I would be more than happy to assist.

JuicyBunny 07-17-2015 09:53 AM

Contact has been made. My man, Tommy is on the case! :thumbsup

nikki99 07-17-2015 09:54 AM

Not sure if you're serious... Tommy's has been around for a long time, going back to 1997/98 at least.

I thought that was obvious as well.

As are so many things in life this too is one of those "you either get it or you don't" situations. You obviously don't.

OR... it's summer, he's away, and his site is down without his knowledge, and you're here talking out of your ass.

Colmike9 07-17-2015 10:31 AM

I have a lot of things, cars/electronics/etc. that are still perfectly good and will be used for a long time, but most everything is past the "lifetime warranty". Read the fine print of what "lifetime" means, it's almost never forever no matter what it is..

Of course. He recanted his lifetime memberships 4-5 years ago or so. Life span of the site was intact.

Dude, wtf :)
I am NOT talking about this downtime :1orglaugh

He recanted lifetime memberships like 4-5 years ago! Nothing to do with lifespan of the site being terminated :1orglaugh

Not the same thing and you know it. This was a submit pass which you can not "run down" like cars driving too many miles that it would be possible to keep warranty etc etc.

What about shitty porn that's past it's prime? Or a Flash based member's area.. :upsidedow
(I don't know a thing about Tommys Bookmarks, just sayin')

Jel 07-17-2015 11:53 AM

for a guy with a self-professed top 1% IQ or whatever it was you stated, you don't half chat some shit mineistaken.

Option #1: continue with what was obviously a bad biz model due to the ever changing porn climate, but idiots are happy with their lifetime submit pass, even though ultimately Tommys dies off

Option #2: Adapt, kill off that particular life cycle, and idiots cry on boards about how they can't submit any more under their old pass

Hmmm, what a tough choice. Tommy has more integrity in his little finger than half the clowns on GFY, and anyone who knows anything about the biz knows he is no scammer, so, what would you have done mineistaken, in the scenario that you don't actually know the details of?

Mineistaken is a standup guy. He would have refunded everyone or at the very least sent them amazon giftcards. LOL

JuicyBunny 07-17-2015 12:08 PM

I think Tommy is still winning.

Global rank 111,582
Rank in United States 47,376

Let me put it another way then....

All I know is 15+ years ago I (like hundreds and probably thousands of other webmasters) was submitting sites to Tommy's and turning his traffic into signups. A lot of signups. What were you doing? Raising your hand to ask teach if you can go to the bathroom? No matter. Over all of those years I have yet to see any evidence he's anything but a solid straight shooter who runs a tight ship. :2 cents:

This thread IS about downtime. If you're not talking about it then "dude, wtf" are you doing here? Could you be mindlessly trolling? I wonder.

If he enacted some policy changes on HIS site I'm sure he had his reasons. If YOU had a problem with those changes why not contact him about it instead of the horseshit you're pulling here? He's always struck me as a reasonable guy, and unlike you he's a noted industry veteran who, if there was a hall of fame, would most definitely be in it.

We haven't even established that you had a submit pass at Tommy's. Did you? If you did and you have a legit grievance about it I would be very surprised if he wasn't willing to work something out with you.

But if you're just wasting everyone's time then by all means continue. :thumbsup

I talked to them today ( I was having an issue with my mail) Tech wouldn't say much other than to say it wasn't a server issue.

RyuLion 07-17-2015 02:20 PM

That sucks...

Martin 07-17-2015 02:25 PM

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

That makes no sense.

Do you work for awe by chance?

18teens 07-17-2015 07:36 PM

I hope Tommy gets his site back up soon. He has been a little hard to get a hold of lately so I think he's having some problems. I know him as a man of integrity and I wish him nothing but the best of luck.

By the way, I have been buying a yearly pass from Tommy for about 10 years now and I've always considered that a bargain. In fact, he even sliced the price in half a few years ago. I don't recall a lifetime pass but I would've paid several grand for that back in the day.

Tommy's a great guy. I hope it's nothing serious and he can get back up soon.
