Girl's Face and Jaw Pulled Apart During Dog Attack - Guess The Breed
http://www.latimes.com/nation/nation...607-story.html
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...32_634x351.jpg A 6-year-old girl mauled by a pair of pit bulls on her Cincinnati street Wednesday remained in critical condition in a medically induced coma on Saturday with many surgeries and much therapy ahead of her, family said. "She?s currently resting peacefully, but I hope she can survive these next weeks," family member Leslee McElrath said. "She liked to play with her little brother. She liked to smile. She was learning to read. She was a normal 6-year-old." Cincinnati Police have said the dogs chased after Zainabou Drame, dragged her for a bit and then attacked her. Police arrived to the scene quickly, and squad car dashboard camera footage released Friday shows officers running toward Zainabou as the dogs hover above her. The dogs scurried, and officers can be seen firing shots in their direction. Both dogs were killed by the gunfire. Zainabou lost part of her jaw, tongue and eye, among other injuries, her aunt told the Cincinnati Enquirer. "She is lying there -- her face is swollen almost beyond recognition -- I thank God she is still here," Gina Tyus told the newspaper. She asked that dog owners be more cognizant of what their pets are up to. "You don't know what can set them off, upset them, trigger something," Tyus said. "The kids were just out here playing. As far as we know, it was just the fact that they were running around that set the dogs off." Police have not charged the dogs' owner, 24-year-old Zontae Irby, with any crimes related to the dogs' attack. But he was arrested and is being held on $78,000-bond on suspicion of drug, weapon and stolen property crimes. One of the officers who responded to the attack told WLWT-TV that the scene was the worst thing he had seen during his nine years on the force. "The image I will never get out of my head which was the child's head was in the mouth of the brown dog and he was thrashing his head back and forth," Officer Kyle Strunk said. At least 19 people in the U.S. have died from dog attacks in 2014, according to tracking by a national bite victims' group. About half of the victims were children. |
Absolutely terrible. Poor little girl.
|
depends how ya raise them, buddy had a female pit bull and the sweetest dog, if ya smack it in the head to teach it to fight all the time though gonna be a bitter mofo :2 cents:
|
If only someone in the neighborhood had a gun.
|
the dog owners need to be charged

So far this year there have been 19 dog bite fatalities. Looks like pit bulls make up 70%.
The sad thing is the age of the victims. FFS stop bringing your kids around these dogs. Pits are loyal and usually extremely friendly to people. They can be dog aggressive if not raised properly but that is neither here nor there. 19 fatalities in a year isn't exactly something you should worry about. More people probably died taking a shit. |

I have a friend whose aunt has a little wiener dog that bites everyone that comes over to their house. I have been bitten by it a few times and everyone I know has been been bitten by it, but the owners just laugh because it is tiny and they think it is cute. |

So sad. A friend had pit bull, very friendly with family, fierce with others.

We were once at a panera and she was in the car with the windows cracked. I could see from where I was sitting. Some stupid woman put her hand in my window to pet her and she was cool. |
ugh not this argument again
|
always here it is how you raise them, well yeah no shit most of these idiots treat them like crap as any other dog so that is the problem.
Now we need dog popo to come around and take peoples pets because they treat them like crap, that will cost a billion dollars or they can ban them which is what some are trying to do |
my buddy drink-drives almost daily. Never had an accident, never hurt anyone. It's not drink driving that is the danger, it's how the driver was taught to drive.
|
Pitties are always going to be aggressive to dogs and to animals, alot of these dogs have issues with children, thats usually because of shity lovey douby owners who dont pay attention. I have two, one is fine with everything, the other is mean as fuck to other dogs, great with people and children, but wants to eat other dogs.

http://getdangoodman.com/wp-content/...-HELLA-BAD.jpg They're great dogs if raised properly. I have no problem with my kids being around Pitbulls. http://imgur.com/5qA2PDo.jpg |
You guys who own pitbulls and have kids are idiots.
|
I don't have a problem with people owning pit bulls. I don't have a problem with people owning guns either. The argument for justifying guns is the same argument used for justifying owning pit bulls.
Anybody in favor of one but against the other is an emotional hypocrite. Both are deadly when not cared for properly. Responsibility lies within the owner. |

Laws should be changed to have the owners charged if dogs do damage and the charges should be proportional to the damage done. |
except guns don't have a brain that is canine and not human.

Poor baby, that is just terrible.
I was attacked by a pit a couple of years ago - or attempted to get attacked - me and my German Shepherd were caught in a crazy chase with one and we were in my own damn yard not bothering anyone. I heard Kasey barking and went to see what was going and next thing I know, she and I were in the frenzy of our lives, she'd come after one of us and the other would get her attention for what seemed like forever until my husband got out there with a gun - it was never anyone's intent to hurt her, just scare her away but it wasn't happening - she kept coming and coming at us - finally he shot her in the hip hoping that would stop her, to no avail. He finally shot her in her side and that one caused some alarm and she turned and went after him, he shot her 2 more times before she finally let go of her goal and just drooped her head and walked off - we later found out she was a drug dealer's dog, or so we think she was and she died. A few days later another pit came after my mini horses and she had to be taken away, she never bit anything because of the fence, but not because she didn't try. A few days later I opened my front door and a pit came walking into my house and laid down by my chair and just ducked and laid there, but scared me to death as you never know what one is going to do. In ALL three of these cases - all in a matter of days, the people who owned them abused those dogs so bad and a beaten dog is an unstable dog, but they were convinced they had to be kicked or hit in the head to keep them in line - making them extremely unstable at best. To this day, I see a Pitbull and my body just moves, I can't help it and don't try and be like that, I know it isn't the breed, it's the breeder/owners, but I don't have the time or nerve to stand there and find out it's credentials - whether they have been trained, beaten, or whatever- my body just moves and my head just follows - and it is extremely involuntary - I am terrified of them and have never been scared of a dog in my life. Some people just shouldn't have dogs - of ANY breed! |

In contrast any responsible breeder would put down a dog that is dangerous to anyone or anything. It would kill me if that happened to one of mine, but I don't have dogs that are bred for violence either. |
We have a Rottie puppy that's only 7 months. Sweetest dog I've ever had. Great with everyone, especially kids. And good with other dogs & animals.
But we are socializing the dog every chance we get. Since we got him he's been going everywhere with me & my wife. He's already about 70lbs probably on the way to 120 (his parents were both 120lbs+) I can see the reaction he gets from strangers in public though. One guy literally walked away from his baby stroller with his daughter in it when Moose got too close. It's all in the training. It's a shame dogs like Pits, Rotties & Shepards get the reputation that they do but I get it. They are powerful dogs and in the wrong hands they can easily kill. The gun analogy is spot on. |

Rather than post the whole chapter I wrote, I'll just sum it up by saying.
Typical. Extremely typical. Totally predictable. Anyone who is actually "shocked" by this: welcome to the planet Earth. |

Pit Bulls have been bred for the sole purpose of fighting and killing. The only morons who have pits are meth heads and 20 year olds who can't pull their fucking pants up. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/...62_634x560.jpg http://pets4u.info/wp-content/upload...dog-attack.jpg http://b529d0670fe0920dec93-6021a50a...df_profile.jpg |

I don't own one and probably wouldn't. Not because of the dog, but because of the ghetto trash that is typically involved with breeding them...ignorant like yourself. |
Same applies as always...the breed of PitBull needs to be owned by someone who knows how to trains and handle dogs. Most the of the Pits don't have a chance because the breed attracts macho dumbasses (mostly).

But it's all in training, if you don't socialize a dog, they are same as people, they don't know how to act around them... TRAINING them to attack anything that comes near, that's on the owner, but sadly people don't have the chance or time to find out how they have been trained and the general rule is they are all trained to be bad - and it's sad! |

pitbulls are dogs like any other its the assclown owners who are to blame...my pitbull would only attack another human if it attacked me first...no way would he maul a little girl, he steers clear of children because he is aware I do not want him around other peoples children...he will not chase cats because he was brought up to be like this, he will not bite other dogs because I brought him up this way, he will not jump on people because he is happy to see them because I brought him up this way...he will gently take a treat out of a kids hand, taking great care and time, because I trained him to be like this... In my country the #1 dog breed that attacks is poodles...there was some bullshit campaign to introduce "pit bull tax" when in fact all that is needed is controlled distribution of dangerous dogs and harsher sentences for the owners...nothing at all wrong with pitbulls they are among the sweetest most caring dogs you can find... this was 100% the owners fault... |
