GFY Post Ticker -- THE RETURN

THE UNOFFICIAL GFY POST TICKER IS HERE!

Okay, I finally got some time to be 3l337 and make all the changes that you all requested in this thread: http://gofuckyourself.com/showthread...ghlight=ticker

Basically this reads GFY and parses out the first page of posts and scrolls them on your desktop.

Here are the latest changes:
1)Its now an .MSI file download, (Microsoft Installer), not an .EXE so you paranoid bastards can relax. Its totally legit.

2)Its free, but donations are humbly accepted.

3)Preferences now include:
-resizable
-always on top option
-scroll speed option
-Time between refreshes

4)It SHOULD include all support files you need to run on any windows machine, even without IE installed.

5)If you get an error message during install about the MSHTML.tlb failing to register, that is because you already have IE installed. Just hit continue and everything will still work fine.

6)If it doesn't work for you, tell me what setup you have and MAYBE i'll fuck with it. But what do you want for free?????

If I am, then so is Netscape, Opera, IE, etc... just creating a tool which reads and displays an HTML document doesn't violate any fucking copyrights. I'm not even publishing a document on a site for Christ sake.

What if I wrote a "3D Browser" that rendered GFY by displaying it on the surface of a sphere...??? What if I wrote a browser for the blind that did a text to speech translation on the board? Its the same fucking thing. I'm not changing the content, I'm not publishing the content, and I'm not taking credit for the content. I am in no way benefitting from the content or trademarks or brand of GFY and I'm not dilluting those in any way.

It's an interesting tool.

I don't see an issue with it since in reality in order to actually READ the content, you need to come to GFY and see the ads and the entire site. It's no different than ANY news site linking to articles on other sites; as long as you don't actually reproduce the content of the other site there should be no DMCA issue.

But then again what the fuck do I know.

I don't see who anyone could equate this with stealing content. It's simply a desktop app that displays links to the topics on the board. You can't read the posts without going to the board, and if you hit the board you see all the wonderful ads.

Ad Impressions are delivered every time a page is loaded through a web browser. He is taking page RELOADS from GFY and putting them into his little appy.

He is stealing traffic from this site and then using the site to distribute the software meant to take those ad impressions away.

I'm not anyone's counsel bub. Why dont you show me some of your sites so i can start using your content in an unauthorized way?
