iPhone 5 of Galaxy S3?
 

My cellphone (an old shitty flip phone) is dying and I have a free upgrade with the phone carrier. For $99 I can either get an iPhone 5 of the Samsung Galaxy S3. Just curious what peoples opinions are of these two phones.

in all seriousness the galaxy is a good phone, go for the s4 though, the iPhone is the iPhone. if you are a macophile you have no other choice. mobile app writers tell me the s4 is the better phone

if the deal is for an s3, it sounds like the carrier is trying to screw you, that's an outdated device.

Get the S4

Iphone is absolutely better. You will love it.

I'd take the S4 over the iPhone 5, but the iPhone 5 over the S3.

invest a couple hundred bucks and get s4 instead...

if you get s3, in a year or 2, it will be close to worthless...
s4 on the other hand you will be able to sell on ebay for a few hundred bucks...

so with some luck, not only you will get a better device, but you could actually come out ahead compared to s3... :2 cents:

I just checked. It looks like the options for my upgrade are $99 for either the iPhone 5 of the Galaxy S3. If I want to pay $200 I can get the Galaxy S4.

It sounds like that might be $100 well spent. To be honest I have never had a Smartphone so anything I get will be better than what I have now, but I do want to make sure I get the best deal I can.

get the HTC one, it is better than the S4 and the iphone is not even in the same discussion :2 cents:

get the s3 if you want to customize the ui and/or fart around with tweaks and mods and such, also if you want to pick your own music player and where you buy music.

the screen on the iphone is better, the ui is *slicker* but not by much. but you are locked into the apple experience.

if you are looking at the best deal strictly on price, it looks like the better money value on the deal is the iphone.

I love my BB Z10. The HTC One was my next pick though. The S4 would be 3rd.

You're going to have to be either unlocked or jailbroken on either format to do any of the real cool stuff.

But you're not locked into anything be being on a iPhone. I have never used iTunes and have no issue with doing anything on my phone.

And I was a DieHard Android user, still am to an extent.

It looks like I can get the HTC for $120. that looks like a pretty cool phone as well.

iPhone 6 should be coming at the end of the year, worth waiting now if you go that way

I like my iphone 5, saw the presentation for the S4 though and It looked very nice.

The wife and I picked up a pair of S4's a few weeks ago - for slightly under $100 each. Black's cameras (authorized Telus Mobility re-seller) had them on at $179 - but gave us two $50 gift coupons and $35 trade-in for each of our old Motorola Milestones.

Our old contract didn't expire until this September - but we wanted to lock in new 3yr contracts before the CRTC regulations kick in this fall.

Bottom line - we love the new S4's. Lightning fast with the quad core processors and LTE 4G network. 12mp camera is suh-weet, too.

if that's the htc one i'd be all over that deal.

I love my iPhone. Everything just works without any hassle.

in head to head testing and reviews the Htc one trounces the Samsung

iphones are not even close to either the HTC or the Samsung

you'd probably be happy with either the HTC one or the S4, but people that have tried both overwhelmingly are preferring the HTC one.... google some of the reviews comparing the two head to head, the HTC is the best phone out there right now

agreed, if your a dork that wants to fuck with everything android, if ya just want shit to work I like my iphone the best and I have apple, android and blackberry. :2 cents:

im switching from iphone to htc one

the only thing I like about Android is the bigger screen and support for flash. Otherwise I cant stand the operating system. I think the iPhone is WAY easier to use than Android.

Samsung makes good stuff, you should be quite happy with either Galaxy.

Having to use iTunes sucks.

Iphone is old school compared to S4

the only thing ill miss is imessage which i use on the macbook and ipad... but damn it iphone and even the new IOS is truly disappointing at this point. Apple should had by now a new phone on the market with significant improvements. This delay on releasing one is going to cost them big time.

Samsung should had used a better quality of material for their phones. They are expensive devices with impressive screens and cheap look due to the plastic they use. They should had gone with an aluminium case or another material.

I always tell people this... if you want to actually own your device, then go with android; if you like your device controlling what you can and cannot do, go with an iCant device.

+ they are coming out with iPhone 5S instead 6, you can predict the specs already and reason not worth to wait if you're due for an upgrade.

The next big thing is already here...

i have the S4 and it "feels" a lot better than the S3. but yeah, still a plastic backside, but it also hurts your feelings a lot less when it gets a scratch :winkwink:

If you're unable to get S4 then get iPhone 5. But seriously if there is no iPhone 5s or iPhone 6 that offers 5" display im off Apple for Galaxy S4 or HTC One.

FIRST, don't get the S3, its not the newest model, you will be full of regret and hatred to those who have the S4, even the water proof one!


Why? because it comes down to your own personal preference. Its like asking which flavor of ice cream is best, or does one bottle of water better than another.

I've had BOTH android and iPhones and I prefer the iPhone hands down, but that is me. I like how simple and easy to use they are, plus everything on earth connects to them.

Android on the other hand I didn't like, it was almost going from a mac to a PC but running on some foreign language with some new OS that didn't do what I want.

Best suggestion is to try out both and see, I think you get a 14 day trial with any of them here in the states.

Apple has the better look everything else has Samsung.
