So I am thinking about buying a new car...

Test drove the Cadillac CTS and new ATS. Both great cars. (ATS is smaller but the turbo is a nice touch) Also drove the 8 cylinder Camaro and Loved it! (i think i will get arrested in it though lol)

Going to test drive the C series Mercedes and similar class BMW

Out of the above what would you buy?

Lease or Buy and why?

candyflip 03-05-2013 08:42 AM

The ATS is a hot little car. My Dad has been looking at them, and is actually driving around in one today. He just left my place. I didn't drive it, but it's a great looking smaller car, of which I'm a big fan.

When I saw the thread and opened it up, that's what I was going to suggest.

i was afraid it was going to be too small and not fast enough. its just about the right size (a little smaller than what I am use to) but the turbo is a really nice added feature and gives it a lot of zip

The CTS is bigger and has similar pickup without the turbo. This aint my grandmothers Cadillac lol

may have to go drive that

I would take the Cadillac. Everyone and their mother has a Mercedes (same with BMW), and the Camaro does nothing for me. I always thought that Cadillac was for "old men" but they sure have changed in the past ten years.

If I had to buy a sports car I would buy the new Dodge Challenger. I just love the way they look.

CourtneyR 03-05-2013 08:59 AM

get a mini.

Itchy 03-05-2013 09:02 AM

This is the one you want ;) Hot Wheels !!!
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps449107de.jpg

Full-Size Fun
Available on either the Camaro 2LT or 2SS, and immediately recognizable as a Hot Wheels®-inspired Camaro with exterior features such as a vibrant Kinetic Blue Metallic paint scheme and 21" red-striped wheels, this limited special edition is truly unique, as it?s the first-ever full-size production Hot Wheels car offered for sale by any manufacturer.
With production beginning in the first half of 2013, this new collaboration from Chevrolet and Hot Wheels holds great cultural significance, as the 1968 Custom Camaro 1:64-scale toy was one of the original sixteen Hot Wheels cars ever created. This rare opportunity to actually drive home a real-life Hot Wheels Camaro will be a dream come true for millions of fans and collectors alike.

If you do go with an Audi, don't opt for one of their 'exclusive colors.' I spent more than I care to remember several years ago having them take care of city scratches with proprietary paint colors that nobody else has access to... after a minor fender-bender the custom paint cost was as much as the repair.

Was a nice car though...

sperbonzo 03-05-2013 09:09 AM

BMW 7 series. If you are thinking of the Merc, then DEFINITELY try the BMW.

The C-class

I would buy it. Refined, fast, safe, good looking. I drove 3 series BMW's for years and just got tired of them.

Doctor Dre 03-05-2013 09:10 AM

Personally I'm sold to Mercedes. I love the handling of the car. It's a real smooth boat.

If you like a more sporty feeling you might wanna go test drive the BMWs ;)

That's actually my 1st choice. We've had two and got rid of them when the kids got here.

I'm looking for something small for a third car, that I can drive around when the kids don't need to be. I'm tired of the Minivan.

They are indeed. My 2008 mini cooper S so much fun to drive over highway 17 every day. Just like a go cart.

Get a clubman! They are just as much fun as the regular minis but with the extra room and rad trunk doors.

out of those you mentioned: MB or BMW

fuzebox 03-05-2013 10:03 AM

Gotta say the C class surprised me, felt really connected to the road which I didn't expect. Only thing that annoys me about MB is the lack of manual transmission option.

_Richard_ 03-05-2013 10:04 AM

id go for the ATS Turbo

Absolutely agree, and some MB models in the past even did not had MT option. Motherfuckers!

I've got the steering wheel paddle shifters on my M class. It's probably an option on other cars too if you wanna drive manual. No stick thought.

I really like the CTS 2 door. Overall I think Cadillac's are the way to go. You get the same power of the Camaro but with a much nicer interior.

L-Pink 03-05-2013 11:29 AM

Just got back from lunch with a friend, he has a couple years old STS with a V-8 great car and he paid low $20's for it used.

Last week Motoring (canadian show) pinned the new ATS against the BMW 6 series and the Lexus es350 and the ATS won hands down, here is a quote from their site.

"Motoring 2013, television's longest-running and most respected Canadian automotive program celebrating 25 years on TSN, has selected the Cadillac ATS as its Car of the Year for 2013.

"Building on the strength of the CTS, Cadillac's new ATS boasts a stunning style, a rich cabin and the right driving dynamics. While there is a choice of engine, it is very difficult to overlook the appeal of the top-level V6. When equipped with this engine and GM's adaptive suspension, the ATS dances its way through a corner like no Cadillac ever before."

Motoring also recognized the Cadillac ATS as its best new Prestige Car,"

I'd go with the car of the year if I was looking, watched the show, it was impressive

Feng-PD 03-05-2013 11:51 AM

audi s4 or s5 :)

Did some reading on the new model, you're right. Real nice reviews.

Lester Burnham 03-05-2013 09:02 PM

My 2 cents:

I wouldn't buy a BMW or Benz unless it is an M or AMG respectively (I drive a 2008 E63 AMG - BEAST MODE). Base model BMW 3 series or a C-class = average performance and lots of trips to the shop (but if you buying new and have decent warranty, perhaps not an issue). Of course, if we are talking an M3 or C63, you really can't go wrong. Both great cars.

I used to own a G35, and though a nice looking car, under-powered.

Cadillac CTS-V is a great car for the money. I'm not a Caddy guy, but you probably can't go wrong. With all your choices, I'd go that direction.

It seems like you want something that looks mean and attracts looks. If you want a stealth assassin that doesn't beg for cops to arrest you, get a Subaru STI. Those things can beat a lot of stuff on the street, and are very functional (all wheel drive).

If you are looking for a pussy magnet, an Audi S5 would fit the bill.

I test drove one when they came out. It's way to slow for a car that cost 120K
