Cops shoot and kills dog, tells owner to get a new one

"And I'm yelling 'You shot my dog. You shot my dog.' And the police officer says 'You need to calm down. You can get a new dog," Fisher said.

There's a reason they are called PIGS.

BlackCrayon 01-16-2013 08:54 AM

the worst part is that the stupid cops went to the wrong address...had they not been so inept it never would of happened.

AllAboutCams 01-16-2013 08:56 AM

even if they were at the right address, and there was a hostage situation or some other emergency to legitimize their alert and armed presence -- it's still not ok to murder these animals as part of protocol.

SuckOnThis 01-16-2013 09:11 AM

Here's another one from the same area just two months ago......

Tom_PM 01-16-2013 09:15 AM

It all stems from the fact that pets are considered property. Until that is changed, pets have got as much legal rights as the chair you're sitting on. It's a terrible shame.

They are trained to kill dogs who are even just walking towards them.

baggg 01-16-2013 09:17 AM

Dogs should have the right to own guns.Shit like this wouldn't happen...

Damn, what a moron :(

L-Pink 01-16-2013 09:42 AM

Wrong address, failure to qualify a threat serious enough to discharge a fire arm, insensitivity to the public he is sworn to serve and protect. This guy needs to lose his job and a chunk of change in a civil lawsuit.

So the cops were stupid for going to the wrong address?

Ever stop to think it could be the owner of the alarm that gave the wrong address when they signed on for the monitoring,

Or maybe it was just a fuck up on the alarm companies paper work that gave the wrong address.

Maybe the 911 call taker fucked it up.

Maybe the dispatcher fucked it up.

Maybe the cops fucked it up.

So hard to tell from your recliner and sitting calling someone stupid for that only makes you look bad.

Was the cop stupid for shooting the dog, Maybe. But you will never really know until you are in his shoes.

You can only go on the info provided - He made a really stupid/insensitive comment about getting a new dog - You have a right to assume the cop was stupid....

bronco67 01-16-2013 10:13 AM

Some cops seem to be scared of their own fucking shadows. What man can't handle a dog without pulling out his gun?

most likely it was either 911 or the cops who screwed up but either way, the protocol of shooting dogs is stupid.

agreed. But I bet you that the department does not really have rules on it. It surly seems they lack training though.

I've met quite a few smart cops, and a couple stupid ones.

The cops that showed up at the wrong address, forced their way onto the property, shot a dog 3 times as it was walking past them, then told the owner to "settle down you can get a new one", are insensitive and stupid :thumbsup

MrBottomTooth 01-16-2013 10:35 AM

Yet if youre in new orleans and you pet one of their police horses as it walks by you get charged with assaulting a police officer. I hope the fucker loses his job

I'll NEVER be in a cops shoes but I can tell you. After showing this to a cop friend of mine his reaction was same as mine and many others here.

he basically said if that would happen in Montreal, that cop would have to relocate in a new town.

To easy to become a cop... Seems with the news we read any IDIOT can be one

Love the way people take liberties with articles and information.

Its one of the big issues with society today.

No where in the article did it say they FORCED their way onto a property. Yes they showed up at the wrong address but based on the information they had they were investigating an alarm call which means a possible burglary in progress.

If its your house do you want them to stop at the gate or walk in?

If its your office and the door is open, do you want them to stop at the door or walk in and catch the bad guy before he goes out the back.

Since there does not seem to be a video of what happened with the dog, we sadly have a he said she said story. Maybe the dog did try to attack them. Maybe not. But I can tell you this for 100% sure and you can ask any cop you know or meet. At the end of the day that cop plans to go home with NO holes in his body and that means no teeth holes from a dog either.

That Cop for sure needs better training as he easily could have pepper sprayed the dog or even Tarezed it if they have them. Shooting the dog in that situation was a mistake and the officer and the department should pay for it.

Sadly that wont bring the dog back.

Too Young as well in most states.

They should set a 25 year old limit and also a minimum of a 4 year degree. That does not make them smart but it would weed out some of the less smart ones.

Then though, you will have to pay them more.

It does not matter what way you spin it, the cop was an idiot - "settle down you can get a new one" proves it - I understand that sometimes cops are damned if they do and damned if they don't - However, this guy proved what he was with that one stupid sentence.

Police forces do not like hiring intelligent cops and some actually have a policy against it.

Not spinning anything. Its the truth and simple to see.

Also note that I said the cop and the department should pay for his actions. It was stupid and could have been dealt with several other ways. He also could have shown the owner a bit of remorse instead of the stupid statement but.

It's a 35lb dog guys. Never any reason to shoot that

I have a 37 pound dog that can prove you wrong.

At the same time , my dog is one of the reasons cops are scared of them and will shoot them.

She looks a bit like this.

Yea but in this case it was a Border Collie, they are literally the smartest, friendliest dogs alive. I've often joked that if someone were to break into my house my dog would help them carry shit out.

BAAAWWWWAHHAHAHAHAHAH

Why you calling me names? Because I have trained dogs for home protection? To protect my family, wife son etc?

Let me guess you sleep with your doors unlocked and leave them that way when you leave the house?

Im not training fighting dogs. Im training protection dogs. they work on command or in the event that someone attacks me or the family.

Several people who post here have met my dogs and know they have nothing to fear from them.

When people are responsible with the animals they have they have little to worry about.

Anyway done explaining anything to someone who freaks out over a conversation and calls names as a way to be the top or what ever it is you feel.

Lol 37lb attack dog. What is the point? Your landlord only allow under 40lb dogs?

Yes I will 'call you names' - I don't do it often and that's because when I do its because I mean it.
